JOB EXPECTATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Position Summary
The Work-Based Learning Assistant supports instructional delivery and student development within a blended early childhood and high school learning environment. This role assists the lead teacher in implementing lessons, supervising students, and fostering a positive, structured classroom setting while promoting collaboration between school and home.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional and Student Support
  • Assist the lead teacher in preparing instructional materials and organizing classroom activities.
  • Support the implementation of planned lessons and participate in classroom observations.
  • Supervise and support pre-kindergarten children and high school students during daily routines and instructional activities.
  • Provide guidance and encouragement to students to support academic and social-emotional growth.
  • Maintain ILEAD account and all paperwork for licensure.
  • Assist students with potty training and bathroom needs.
  • Participate in school wide professional development.

Classroom and School Environment
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and structured classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Support students during breakfast and lunch service within the classroom.
  • Reinforce classroom expectations, routines, and positive behavior supports.

Family and Community Engagement
  • Participate in family engagement activities and events that support student success.
  • Communicate with families regarding student needs, progress, and support strategies, under the guidance of the lead teacher.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, families, and staff.

Qualifications
  • Early childhood experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students of varying ages and staff.
  • Demonstrated reliability and professionalism.

Additional Requirements
  • Good attendance is required.
  • Must be able to supervise students in a variety of settings and activities.

Education
  • Must be a current student at True North Academy, J. Everett Light Career Center, or NCHS.
