Job Description / Essential Elements: Print AmeriCorps Borderlands members provide 1:1 to 1:3 ratio of academic tutoring in English language development and functional academics on a daily basis to 159 underperforming kindergarten through 12th grade and special education students at 18 service sites countywide. Essential Participant Qualifications Positive role model for students Dependable Community-minded Highly motivated Self-starter Flexible Good communication skills Leadership ability or potential for leadership Fluency in English vocabulary and language The ability to serve cooperatively with others and serve independently when needed to do so A willingness to serve the diverse populations in Brawley, Calipatria, El Centro, Heber, Imperial, Seeley, and all communities throughout Imperial County providing his/her own transportation A willingness to serve on disaster-relief assignments in the event of an emergency.

Requirements / Qualifications 1) Must be a U.S. Citizen or a legal permanent resident. 2) Must be 17 years of age or older

(Candidates aged 17 require the Parental Consent for Minor Background Check) 3) Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate. 4) Must be able to serve 8 daytime hours, Monday - Friday, and some evenings and weekends

5) Must have reliable transportation.
