Description:

Position Overview:

Working position with overall shift responsibility for the physical operation, maintenance and cleaning of the ice arena and equipment. Facilitate ice arena operations as necessary.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Perform and/or monitor housekeeping to maintain Blake Ice Arena sanitation and appearance
  • Coordinate, monitor and maintain records of the activities of various groups using the arena
  • Maintain safe and secure setting for students, staff and guests
  • Perform resurfacing of ice surface on scheduled times; responsible for the ice condition
  • Perform equipment and building maintenance
  • Follow all opening and/or closing procedures to ensure ice arena is safe and secure
  • Perform other duties as necessary or assigned


Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Availability for scheduled and on-call evenings and weekends
  • Valid MN driverโ€™s license/ must pass DMV background check

Preferred:

  • Experience in an ice arena
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience performing general cleaning and maintenance

Physical Requirements:

  • Must possess normal vision, hearing and good physical dexterity
  • Will be required to do own laboring and shoveling (including lift up to 70 pounds safely)
  • Capable of transporting equipment, moving goal frames, including carts that may carry up to 400 pounds
  • Operate ice refinishing equipment (motorized ice resurfacer and powered edger)

Working Conditions:

  • May be subject to being on-call; required to carry a cell phone or two-way device
  • Work may involve exposure to hazardous materials
  • May experience schedule changes based on the needs of the arena
  • May work long hours to complete/perform scheduled or unscheduled functions and events
  • Required to work under adverse weather conditions and varying temperatures

Team Participation:

  • Participate as a contributing member of the ice arena team by working collaboratively and assisting others as needed
  • As appropriate, give input for ways to improve procedures and policies currently in use to ensure business is conducted in a safe, responsible manner
  • Willing to assist in other areas of school and ice arena operations and with other tasks not defined in position description

Pay Range: $19.42 - $21.64

This salary range includes the expected annual salary for this position. In making a salary determination, we consider professional experience, applicable qualifications and other job-related factors. Based on these factors, a candidate's salary offer could exceed this range.
