Job Summary
This position performs customer service and maintenance duties in support of the operations of an ice arena.
Work is performed and duties are carried out in accordance with established policies, procedures, and Borough core values: Accountability, Customer Focus, Dedication, Integrity, Responsiveness and Teamwork.
Anticipated schedule: On-call, Nights, Morning, Weekdays and Weekends. 20 hours per week.

D1 - DOE
Minimum Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent.
Less than one year of experience. Relevant experience to include but not limited to Ice Arena experience, customer service, cash handling, basic computer skills, mechanical, janitorial, snow removal and heavy equipment experience.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check and physical.
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Operates a Zamboni and other equipment to maintain indoor and outdoor ice surfaces.
  • Answers telephone and greets customers; collects payments and fees.
  • Assists in cleaning and maintaining facilities.
  • Sharpens skates.
  • Opens and closes facility at beginning and end of business day.
  • Maintains equipment and supply inventory.
  • Makes copies; sends and receives faxes.
  • Schedules group events.
  • Monitors conduct of patrons and enforces arena rules.
  • Tracks attendance.
  • Performs related duties.

Temporary and Thousand Hour (1000) employees for the Mat-Su Borough do not receive a benefits package. Following is a brief description of the only benefit provided to this class of employee.
Alaska Supplemental Benefits System:
The Supplemental Benefits System (SBS) is in lieu of Social Security and is mandatory. An employee contributes at 6.13% of gross wages, matched by the Borough (6.13%), on the present wage base of $176,100.
