We are a well respected Engineering and Materials Testing firm with several high profile projects throughout the NY Metro Area.

Description
We are seeking a motivated, experiened ICC Special Inspector in all areas, particularly in Soils, Masonry, Rebar, or Steel Reinforcement. You will be performing inspection for Soils, Masonry, Rebar, Steel Reinforcement on new construction renovation, alteration and enlargement projects throughout the NYC Metro Area. Your work will directly contribute to the integrity and durability of major construction developments.

Additional openings for Mechanical Engineers and Special Inspectors with ICC Certifications in all disciplines, including Welding, CWI, NDT UT MT. Join our highly regarded Engineering and Materials Testing Company!

Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough inspections of masonry work, rebar placement, soils or steel reinforcement in accordance with ICC (International Code Council) standards and project specifications.
  • Observe work conformance with plans and specifications of drawings, design documents and building codes.
  • Document inspection findings accurately through detailed reports and communicate non-compliance issues promptly to project teams.
  • Provide quality-assurance support to the assigned projects to ensure product meets clients quality requirements

Certifications Needed:

Must have ONE or more current certification listed:

  • ICC Masonry
  • ICC Steel Reinforcement – Rebar
  • CWI Welding Inspector or ICC Welding Inspector
  • Mechanical Engineer
  • ICC Special Inspector (Soils, Steel & Bolting, Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Fireproofing, Rebar), ACI Level II or Concrete Construction
  • A PLUS if you are Master Special Inspector, Civil Engineer or have multiple certs

Skills

  • 2-5 years construction, inspection experience
  • Not required, but a plus for bachelor’s Civil Engineering or related education
  • Ability to read, interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Experience in accurately performing and reporting field inspections in timely manner
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Self-disciplined and highly motivated
  • Good decision-making skills, detail oriented, accurate
  • Able to travel throughout 5 boroughs of NYC

Special Testing & Consulting, LLC has a full service in-house testing laboratory that is licensed by the New York City Building Department and successfully assessed by the Cement and Concrete Reference Laboratory (CCRL). It is operated under the supervision of a New York State Licensed Professional Engineer and all testing is performed by American Concrete Institute (ACI) and/or International Code Council (ICC) certified inspectors. Our laboratory includes a state of the art moisture controlled curing room and work stations for concrete testing and for soil testing; all with new equipment furnished in each station.

As our company name suggests, we are fully equipped to provide Specialty Testing Services. The Company owns equipment including concrete coring equipment, rebar finders (pachometer), windsor probe and pin equipment, hydraulic jacks and steel test fixtures for pull testing, etc. so that we can service any special needs of a project.
