Senior Estimator - Industrial Insulation & Fireproofing

RPC Company

Gardena, CA โ€ข On-site

$140K - $200K/yr

Full-time

Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, PTO

This job post hasย expired today.ย Applications are no longer accepted.

Job description

$140,000 – $200,000 base, plus bonus, plus 401(k) with company match, medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and paid time off — and a bid board with more work sitting on it than the current estimating group can get priced.

A national industrial services company is hiring a Senior Estimator for its Gardena, CA branch.

Direct hire, onsite, one opening.

The branch bids industrial insulation and fireproofing across the South Bay and the LA/Long Beach industrial corridor: refinery and petrochem turnarounds, power, marine terminals, tank farms, and heavy commercial.

Hard bid, unit price, and T&M, mostly repeat customers, almost all of it inside a comfortable drive.

Day to day

  • Take off pipe, vessels, tanks, ducts, and structural steel from drawings and specs
  • Price insulation systems — thickness, material, jacketing, personnel protection, removable blankets
  • Scope fireproofing off the UL designs: SFRM density and thickness, intumescent DFT, restrained vs. unrestrained
  • Set man-hour factors, productivity, scaffold allowance, night and shutdown premiums
  • Catch the scope gaps before they cost you — the detail nobody drew, the abatement nobody scoped, the shutdown window that quietly doubles your labor
  • Walk the site when the job calls for it, then own the number you hand over on bid day

Requirements

  • Real estimating experience in industrial insulation and fireproofing (mechanical insulation, SFRM, intumescent, refractory, or coatings)
  • You can read drawings and specs and build a takeoff without hand-holding
  • Comfortable calculating labor hours and productivity for industrial work, not just plugging unit costs
  • Takeoff and bidding software — Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, QuickBid, PlanSwift, 3E Plus, or whatever you've bid in; the tool matters less than your hit rate

Preferred, but not required

  • Refinery, petrochem, power, or marine terminal turnaround experience
  • Scaffold and access estimating experience is preferred

Interview process

One or two interview rounds via Microsoft Teams video. That's it.
