Quality Assurance Tester

Location: Columbia, SC Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote).

Interview Process: 1 round, Virtual/Online

Duration: 12 Months

Employment Type: Contract

Candidate location: Candidate MUST be a SC resident or willing to relocate to SC prior to starting the role at their own expense.

Project Scope

We are seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Tester to perform testing on technical solutions, identify defects, validate application functionality, and ensure software quality throughout the development lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in test planning, manual and automated testing, defect management, quality assurance processes, and working with enterprise applications. Experience with healthcare systems, Medicaid operations, and IBM Curam is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform testing on technical solutions to identify and resolve application issues.
  • Develop test plans, QA processes, User Acceptance Testing (UAT) plans, and detailed test cases.
  • Create and execute functional, regression, usability, and negative testing scenarios.
  • Design and support user interface testing and regression testing activities.
  • Test software applications for reliability, performance, and stability.
  • Lead quality assessments to identify defects, security issues, and optimization opportunities.
  • Develop and execute automated testing scripts with appropriate oversight.
  • Create and maintain QA documentation, test reports, and defect tracking.
  • Maintain databases for product defects, user feedback, and functional improvements.
  • Collaborate with developers, product teams, and business stakeholders to recommend solutions.
  • Perform reviews, walkthroughs, and inspections while following established QA standards.
  • Support continuous improvement of testing processes, tools, and governance practices.
Required Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years of overall QA/testing experience.
  • 3+ years of experience translating business requirements or policy documentation into test cases and scenarios.
  • 3+ years of experience building test cases and scenarios into test systems.
  • 2+ years of experience testing IBM Curam software.
  • Strong ability to communicate testing status, defects, gaps, and issues to development teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience with test execution, defect management, and QA documentation.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
  • 5+ years of experience working with large enterprise or e-business systems.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare operations and business processes, preferably Medicaid.
  • Experience with Atlassian tools including:
    • JIRA
    • Confluence
  • Experience working in both:
    • Waterfall SDLC environments
  • Experience with automated testing tools and frameworks.
Education

Bachelor's degree in Technical, Business, or related field preferred.

4+ years of relevant experience may substitute for formal education.

Preferred Certifications

Technical certifications and/or Project Management certifications from recognized organizations are desirable but not required.
