Location: Sacramento, CA Salary: $102,000.00 USD Annually - $125,000.00 USD Annually Description:
Linux Systems Administrator
Location: Remote (Must live within 2 hours of Sacramento, CA)
Travel: Occasional travel to Sacramento-area data centers as needed
On-Call: Participation in an on-call rotation required
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated, early-career Systems Administrator to support our IBM AIX infrastructure and enterprise host systems environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Computer Science graduate or a systems administrator with approximately 1-5 years of experience looking to build expertise in mission-critical infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Linux administration, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), and exposure to IBM Power Systems and AIX. Experience with HPE NonStop environments is a plus but not required. We are looking for someone who is energetic, technically curious, eager to learn, and interested in growing their career supporting enterprise-scale infrastructure.
What You'll Do
Systems Administration & Support
  • Administer and support IBM Power Systems running AIX
  • Manage and maintain Linux-based infrastructure environments
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and security
  • Troubleshoot operating system, hardware, storage, and application issues
  • Apply patches, upgrades, and maintenance releases
  • Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes
  • Manage service requests and incidents through a ticketing system
  • Escalate complex issues when appropriate and follow established operational procedures
  • Participate in an on-call rotation supporting critical production systems
Infrastructure Engineering
  • Support infrastructure projects from planning through implementation
  • Assist in system architecture and engineering initiatives
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, and application teams
  • Participate in documenting system configurations and operational procedures
Documentation & Compliance
  • Create and maintain technical documentation
  • Follow system security and compliance standards
  • Support change management and operational best practices
  • Participate in training and knowledge-sharing activities
Required Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field preferred
  • Equivalent work experience may be considered
Experience
  • 1-5 years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure support, or related IT roles
  • entry level candidates with hands-on Linux experience are encouraged to apply
  • Experience supporting Linux operating systems, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Basic understanding of server administration, operating systems, and enterprise infrastructure
