Hourly / Non-Exempt / Full Time

Salary Range: $42.51/hr (depends on applicable IBEW Trainee classification)


City Rise Utility Traffic Control

We service all Northern & Central California from multiple locations. At City Rise Utility Traffic Control, we provide high quality traffic control safety services for utility contractors, such as Flagging traffic through a work site, Lane Closures to divert traffic, or Detouring traffic to reduce traffic congestion and prevent accidents. We serve the needs of varied industries and are focused on maintaining a safe work environment for utility crews, our employees, and the public.


BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY

City Rise Utility Traffic Control employees are members of the IBEW Union. Union membership is required (enrollment facilitation available). The Traffic Control Technician works under the direction of a contractor to identify the various needs and or phases of a job. He or she is involved in providing onsite leadership ofthe work crew to successfully complete a job. The Technician will be tasked to assess his or her work crews performance and to provide feedback to Operations Management. The Technician specializes in the following: traffic plan review, traffic control equipment installation (various setups), flagging setups, flagger control, and jobsite supervision.

A Traffic Technician has the responsibility to protect the lives of our customers, motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, and themselves on the roadway.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain a consistent and unrelenting focus on safety throughout all job functions
  • Oversee work zone set up, maintenance and tear down
  • Meet or exceed customer, state, federal and company expectations
  • Implement traffic control setups per MUTCD standard and applicable traffic plans
  • Work with management, and agencies to make adjustments to work zone requirements as needed
  • Provide clear communication and direction to the customer and general public moving or traveling near or around the work zone
  • Drive company trucks. Deliver equipment
  • Tow and operate towable equipment
  • Keep equipment well organized and in working order
  • Develop superior knowledge of work zone setup and professional traffic control responsibilities
  • Provide the highest level of customer service to all customers. This includes on-time arrival and well managed work zones
  • Complete daily Job Hazard Analysis with crew and conduct crew tailgate meetings
  • Provide crew performance feedback to Operations Management. Conduct evaluations as needed
  • Provide detailed safety reports on all safety incidents and or near misses
  • Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have valid drivers license for at least 3 years with a clean driving record
  • Current IBEW membership w/Traffic Tech classification required
  • Ability to read and understand traffic control plans
  • Can establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and others
  • Can work independently with minimum supervision while prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor
  • Work in high-volume outdoor locations with multiple interruptions throughout the day
  • Strong conflict resolution techniques
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent multitasking, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Reliable Transportation with ability to commute throughout Northern California


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 2+ years in an equivalent Traffic Control role
  • OSHA 10 Certification
  • OSHA 30 Certification
  • First Aid/CPR Certification required
  • Proficient knowledge of the Cal Trans MUTCD
  • ATSSA Flagger Certification required
  • TCT certification by ATSSA preferred
  • TCS certification by ATSSA preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Frequent lifting of heavy objects, up to 50 lbs
  • Lift, carry, push, pull and assemble traffic control materials in the proper order to manage work zone traffic
  • Stand for long periods of time in various weather conditions, and different times of day/night
  • Various noise decibel levels
  • Stooping for prolonged periods of time
  • Dexterity in the use of hand and fingers
  • Reaching, sitting, bending, pushing, pulling, talking, hearing and Vision (up close, at a distance, along the periphery)

Language Skills:

  • English- read and write fluently


Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving vehicles and pedestrian traffic and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and loud noises. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is high.
