About The Role

The Commercial Loan Assistant requires a high level of knowledge of commercial loans and documentation, as well as the ability to review and prepare commercial loan closings, effectively communicate with customers, vendors, lender and co-workers to provide a variety of administrative duties.  Carry out basic accounting functions.  Employee will have extensive contact with customers, vendors, the general public, and bank staff and will interact in a professional and courteous manner and conduct him/herself in such relationships in a manner that will enhance the overall efficiency and image of the bank.

The starting salary range for this position is $23.50-$25.50 per hour. All compensation offers are analyzed individually and take into consideration multiple factors including but not limited to geographic location, years of experience, and educational background.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist commercial loan officer with new loan applicants. Position requires expert knowledge of nCino. Collect and organize initial documentation necessary to make loan decision, i.e., credit bureau reports, OFAC, lien searches, tax notices, order appraisals, title commitments, etc.  Initiation and building of loan relationship within nCino.
  • Assist account officer in the preparation of loan worksheets ensuring accuracy of information and assist through the approval process as needed.   
  • Prepare documents for commercial loans, to include Laser Pro documentation, government programs and packages for closings, making sure necessary documents are in order and have been reviewed to be complete and accurate. 
  • Prepare signed loan documents for boarding and disbursing funds.
  • Assist lender with loan closings and be prepared to close loans.  Follow-up with customers after all loan closings on an as needed basis. 
  • Keep current on before mentioned programs, lending regulations, procedures and documentation and be a knowledgeable resource to lenders. 
  • Assist Customer/Lender with regular portfolio and file maintenance, including annual financial and insurance requests and working the collateral exceptions list.
  • Assist Customers, whether in person or over the phone, with loan servicing questions, portfolio maintenance and credits/debits to all accounts/loans as needed.
  • Assist Lender with loan portfolio maintenance reports, scheduling, arranging customer calls and preparing information for bank meetings.
  • Assist Lender with customer relationship management by handling service requests, making customer visits and attending community events.
  • Assist Commercial Loan Operations Supervisor to meet commercial loan quality control goals as set by management.  Ensure all documentation is complete and accurate prior to closing.  Recommend the implementation of best practices, to include file and regulatory procedural reviews.
  • Placing documents in correct nCino placeholder following established procedures and checklist.
  • Maintain professional image always representing the bank in a positive manner.  Regard as confidential any information relating to customers.  Adhere to Bank guidelines, policies and procedures.  Place priority on attendance and punctuality.
  • Employee must be capable of interacting calmly and professionally with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds at various levels within and outside of the organization.
  • Employee must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.

  • Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

  • Complete required bank and BVS training courses within assigned time frame(s).
  •  Represent Bank of the San Juans in a professional manner which includes a professional image, confidentiality, a positive “can-do” attitude, good attendance, punctuality, flexibility and adaptability in meeting bank and customer needs.  Keep work area tidy and maintain customer privacy. Attends and participates in meetings as required.

About You

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A high school degree or GED is required. A two- year degree or completion of specialized course of study at a business or trade school is preferred.
  • Two to Five years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, ABILITY:

  • Must have a high level understanding of loan products and services. 
  • Must have a moderate knowledge of loan processing functions and related requirements and procedures
  • High degree of attention to detail as well as excellent organizational skill(s) to perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have a high ability to prioritize and organize heavy workload(s) and demonstrate effective time management skills(s).    
  • Must have the ability to work in a professional manner and consistently demonstrate courtesy, customer service and tact in a fast-paced/deadlines-oriented environment. 
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately; perform effectively under pressure; meeting multiple and sometimes competing deadlines and make decisions based on regulation(s), company policy(s), knowledge, and experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.

Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
