The Role:
Would you like to be part of a multi-disciplined Hydro-Mechanical team that specializes in the design and implementation of pumping & piping systems, hydropower facilities, wind turbines, tailings management and process systems?
We are seeking an Engineer with experience in design, construction and commissioning of turbomachinery (pumps and/or hydro turbines), piping, hydraulic and conveyance systems. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and capable of developing hydraulic models & calculations for transporting Newtonian/Non-Newtonian/settling/non-settling slurries (pressurized & open channel)
A firm understanding of the below is required.
  1. Turbomachinery and control equipment (gates, valves, chokes) as well as an advanced familiarity understanding of the relevant U.S. & international codes for pipe, materials, & equipment (ASME, AWWA, API, ASTM, ANSI, AWS, BS, ISO)
  2. Electrical, instrumentation and controls to allow for an effective and efficient collaboration with the electrical design team

Responsibilities:
  • Hydraulic, process, mechanical and piping design
  • Assist in the development of studies from concept to implementation
  • Concepts, feasibility, and detailed designs for pumping & piping systems
  • Review project calculations, specifications, and drawings to meet code and quality requirements
  • Preparation of detailed specifications, data sheets, calculations, and reports
  • Develop the preparation of drawings, P&IDs and schematics
  • Research and analyze data and prepare and respond to requests for information
  • Assist or perform quantity takeoffs and cost estimates
  • Engage and interface with suppliers, manufacturers and contractors
  • Prepare control philosophy documents together with the applicable process parameters
  • 3D Drafting of pumping and piping systems, including miscellaneous metallic structures and pipe supports

An Ideal Candidate:
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required
  • 4 to 10 years relevant experience
  • 3D modelling capabilities with AutoCAD 3D, Plant 3D, Revit and Solid works
  • Knowledge of turbomachinery and hydraulic systems

Preferred
  • Experience in the design, implementation, and commissioning of Balance of Plant (BoP)
  • CFD Modeling
  • Transient analyses
  • Hydropower experience
  • Firm understanding of electrical instrumentation and controls.
  • Pipe stress analyses
  • Knowledge of ANSYS, Fathom / Impulse, CESAR, Plant, Revit, SolidWorks, or Inventor
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus
  • Project management experience
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering is a plus
  • Mechanical Professional Engineer (PE) registration preferred

Work Environment:
Work will be in both an office and field environment with domestic and international travel to various outdoor sites determined by project needs. Adherence to safety standards including those of the firm, MSHA, OSHA is mandatory.
Compensation:
In accordance with Colorado state law, the following annual compensation range is applicable for the job and Colorado location associated with this requisition: $90,000 - $110,000/year. Actual compensation may vary from posted hiring range based upon compensable factors, including experience, education, and skill level.
