How does a hybrid system engineer collaborate with software and hardware teams?

Hybrid System Engineers often serve as a bridge between software and hardware teams, ensuring that both components of a system integrate seamlessly. They participate in joint planning sessions, clarify technical requirements, and troubleshoot issues that arise at the intersection of hardware and software. Regular communication and documentation are key, as they must translate system-level goals into actionable tasks for both teams. This collaborative approach not only ensures system performance and reliability but also fosters a culture of innovation in multidisciplinary projects.

What is a hybrid system engineer?

Hybrid System Engineers are professionals who design, develop, and maintain systems that combine multiple types of technologies, such as mechanical, electrical, and software components. They often work with hybrid systems like electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, or industrial automation setups, ensuring that all components work together seamlessly. Their role typically involves system integration, troubleshooting, and optimizing performance to achieve reliability and efficiency. Hybrid System Engineers need a strong understanding of interdisciplinary engineering principles and are often involved in both the conceptual and practical aspects of system development.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a hybrid system engineer?

To thrive as a Hybrid System Engineer, you need a solid background in systems engineering, control theory, and embedded systems, often supported by a degree in electrical, mechanical, or computer engineering. Experience with simulation tools like MATLAB/Simulink, model-based design, and familiarity with hybrid and cyber-physical systems is typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, effective communication, and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams set top performers apart. These skills are crucial for designing, optimizing, and integrating complex systems that combine hardware and software, ensuring reliability and innovation in hybrid technology environments.

Essential Duties:
• Supports the development and integration of ITS and connected system solutions underguidance from senior engineers.
• Analyzes stakeholder requirements and contributes to the definition of technical
specifications.
• Performs in system design, integration, testing, and commissioning activities.
• Applies established engineering methodologies, standards, and best practices to ensure
consistent delivery.
• Supports cross-functional collaboration with product, engineering, and deployment teams.
• Assists in preparing solution proposals with technical detail when supporting sales or pre-sales teams.
• Contributes to configuration management and changing control processes.
• Evaluates the impact of technical changes on project scope, schedule, and quality.
• Apply security practices and adheres to relevant regulatory requirements.
• Troubleshoot devices, networks, and communication systems at the component or subsystem level.
• Participates in deployment activities and coordinates with field teams during implementation.
• Investigates technical issues, performs root-cause analysis, and implements corrective actions.
• Monitors system health, identifies issues, and supports maintenance and upgrades.
• Prepares technical documentation -including design details, test results, and configuration records.
• Communicates technical information clearly to internal teams, vendors, and project stakeholders.
• Supports customer meetings and provides technical clarifications as needed.
• Conducts data analysis to support system performance evaluations and optimization efforts.
• Adheres to industry standards, safety requirements, and internal engineering procedures.
