Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa - Chief Accountant
Position Summary
The Chief Accountant supports the hotel's Finance Department by ensuring accurate financial records, timely reporting, and compliance with Hyatt policies, accounting standards, and internal controls. This role works closely with the Assistant and Director of Finance and serves as a key leader within the Accounting Department.
The Chief Accountant is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting functions, overseeing month-end close activities, and supporting the preparation of financial statements, reconciliations, and reports. This position also provides guidance to accounting colleagues and helps maintain an efficient and organized accounting operation.
Salary Range - $79,700 - $127,300
Key Responsibilities
• Manage the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department, including oversight of General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Income Audit, and General Cashier functions.
• Lead hotel productivity management initiatives by monitoring labor productivity, analyzing staffing metrics and trends, and partnering with operational leaders to identify opportunities that improve financial performance while maintaining Hyatt service standards.
• Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely completion of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, financial reporting, and supporting schedules.
• Review cash activity, daily revenue postings, bank reconciliations, payroll reconciliations, and labor reporting to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
• Maintain compliance with Hyatt accounting policies, USALI, GAAP, and internal control standards while supporting internal and external audits.
• Oversee the administration and optimization of Hyatt financial systems to support accurate reporting, operational efficiency, system security, and compliance with corporate standards.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation, respond to inquiries from colleagues, vendors, and department managers, and provide guidance and support to the accounting team.
