Job description

We are seeking a motivated HVDC Engineer with at least 3 years of electrical engineering experience and a minimum of 1 year of hands-on exposure to High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) systems. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in power systems and power electronics, along with practical experience in Control & Protection, testing, or system integration. Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink is essential, and experience in software development, testing, or system validation is highly desirable. This role is well-suited for a detail-oriented engineer who thrives in technically complex environments and contributes to the successful delivery and validation of advanced HVDC solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the design, implementation, and validation of HVDC systems with a focus on Control & Protection, testing, and integration activities
  • Develop and analyze models of power systems and power electronic components using MATLAB/Simulink
  • Participate in system-level testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of HVDC systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure proper integration of HVDC components and subsystems
  • Assist in developing test procedures, validation plans, and technical documentation
  • Analyze system performance and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
  • Support software-related activities such as validation, testing, and debugging where applicable
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety guidelines, and project requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional engineering experience
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience with HVDC systems
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: Control & Protection, system testing, or integration
  • Strong knowledge of power systems and power electronics
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink modeling and simulation
  • Exposure to software development, software testing, or system validation is highly preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical concepts clearly
  • Ability to work on-site in Raleigh, NC
