Job description

Powering Innovation, Delivering Excellence: Lead the Future of FACTS & HVDC Engineering at MEPPI!

Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. (MEPPI) is seeking a dynamic and experienced engineering leader to direct our high voltage power electronics engineering and product development efforts for FACTS and HVDC systems within the Substation Division (SSD). This role is responsible for leading technical execution, developing engineering talent, and driving innovation across complex transmission solutions.

What Youll Do

  • Lead Engineering Execution: Direct all engineering activities for FACTS and HVDC systems from initial planning through study, design, testing, and commissioning. Ensure technical excellence across project execution and product development.
  • Manage & Develop Talent: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers. Provide training, cross-training, and career development opportunities while conducting performance reviews and supporting compensation planning.
  • Drive Product Strategy: Partner with the FACTS and HVDC Product Line Department Manager to develop future product development plans and supporting documentation aligned with business objectives.
  • Oversee Budget & Performance: Manage section budgets including training, capital, and software. Track engineering billable hours and support cost of goods sold (COGS) reporting to align with SSD sales goals.
  • Support Project Lifecycle: Direct estimating, design, and testing activities from bid phase through execution and aftersales support, including warranty and service engineering.
  • Partner with Sales & Customers: Support sales and marketing through technical review of bids, pricing, and specifications. Serve as a technical resource for internal teams and external customers.
  • Industry Leadership: Represent MEPPI in organizations such as IEEE, PES, CIGRE, and NEMA. Lead development of technical papers and present at industry conferences and events.
  • Ensure Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Service, and global partners including MELCO and TMEIC to resolve technical issues and drive continuous improvement.

What Youll Bring

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in design and commissioning of FACTS and/or HVDC systems
  • Minimum 3 years of engineering leadership or management experience
  • Strong knowledge of electric power systems and transmission substation protection & control
  • Experience with system analysis tools such as PSCAD, MATLAB, and Simulink
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and lead within a collaborative team environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
