ABOUT THE PROGRAM- Summer 2027Internship

As an intern at Invenergy, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Engage with leaders throughout the organization and learn about the clean energy industry through weekly lunch-and-learns.

ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP

Applicants will be considered for internships with various engineering departments across the organization.Our engineering internsare responsible formanaginginitiatives that supportthe technical design,evaluation,and construction of commercial and utility-scale projects.In the past, our engineering interns have joined teams such as:

WindRenewable Engineering

  • Evaluate project constraints and designoptimalproject layoutsutilizingGIS softwaretomaximize project value
  • Design site measurement campaigns, analyze available meteorological datasets, andestablishopinionsof long-term resource characteristics at multiple project sites
  • Model expected energy production and affiliated key metrics
  • Conduct site visits to support site evaluation and wind turbine micro siting
  • Participate in landowner meetings, community outreach events, and construction meetings
  • Gainknowledge of wind turbine technology and affiliated technical and market trends.
  • Work with wind turbineOEM'stooptimizeequipmentselectionfor projects as it relates to power curves, operational modes, mechanical suitability, and curtailment strategies
  • Interface with the project development, origination, finance,environmental, GIS, and project managementteams to support project development, marketing, financing,permitting, and constructionefforts

SolarRenewable Engineering

  • Interface with the Project Management and Operations teams leading up to and through project commercial operations
  • Conduct site visits to support site evaluation, suitability, and due diligence efforts
  • Participate in landowner meetings, community outreach events, and monthly construction meeting
  • Prepare conceptual project layoutsutilizingCAD and GIS software
  • Optimizelayouts to maximize project value.Utilize performance modeling software includingPVSyst, and System Advisory Model (SAM) to prepare energy production estimates

BESS (Battery Energy Storage)Engineering

  • Interface with battery, inverter, andpad mounttransformer Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to obtain technical information and stay apprised of technology advancements and trends
  • Prepare conceptual project layoutsusingQGIS, CAD, or Visio software.Optimizelayouts to maximize project value
  • Conduct site visits to support site evaluation, suitability, and due diligence efforts
  • Assist the Development team with federal, state, county, and local permitting efforts
  • Support the progress of team initiatives including safety, material/process template improvement,design optimization,etc.

Transmission Engineering

  • As an intern on the Transmission Engineering team, you will support the engineering and construction of cutting-edge long-distance transmission lines, HVDC lines and generation interconnection transmission facilities for renewable energy projects.
  • Projects are located nationwide with various challenges that will provide you with opportunities to collaborate with experts in development, permitting, renewable engineering, construction, and operations.
  • Transmission systems for these projects will utilize advanced technologies, focus on increasing the reach of low-cost renewable energy, and enhance grid reliability.

Operations Performance Engineering (Solar, Storage, and/or Wind)

  • Analyze real-time operational data for active renewable power plants to find sources of equipment underperformance
  • Support pilot projects to improve equipment reliability and/or improve tools and processes
  • Work with large datasets to develop dashboards and analytics
  • Work with cross-functional teams such as field technicians, quality, asset management, and procurement
  • Support end-of-warranty inspections or maintenance evaluations
  • Develop troubleshooting procedures
  • Join a site visit

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currentlyenrolled in a 4-year Bachelor's degree program with an expected graduation date betweenFall2027 andSummer 2028.
  • Majoring inEngineering, includingElectricalEngineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or relatedengineering discipline.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Demonstrated interest in the energy sector.

Base Pay

$22 - $27 Hourly

The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Your recruiter can share more about the base pay for this internship opportunity during the hiringprocess.

Interns may be eligible to contribute to a 401k.
