Position: HVAC Project & Start-Up Technician
This position is ideal for an experienced HVAC professional who enjoys installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and ensuring commercial HVAC systems operate at peak performance.
As an HVAC Project and Start-Up Technician, you will play a critical role in bringing new and retrofit HVAC projects online while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot commercial HVAC systems
  • Perform equipment start-up, testing, and commissioning
  • Work with Hydronic, Steam, Chilled Water, DX, Forced Air, Heat Pump, VAV, Constant Volume, Exhaust, Heat Recovery, and Sheet Metal Duct Systems
  • Diagnose and resolve HVAC and mechanical system issues
  • Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment
  • Verify proper system operation and performance during start-up activities
  • Calculate and apply CFM, BTU, HR, GPM, PSI, and duct sizing requirements
  • Follow project installation drawings, specifications, and procedures
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and records
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and PPE requirements
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and materials necessary for project success
  • Work collaboratively with customers, vendors, and fellow team members

Required Qualifications:
  • Experience with commercial HVAC installation, start-up, or service work
  • Strong understanding of electrical schematics
  • Knowledge of refrigeration cycles and HVAC system operation
  • Basic understanding of DDC controls
  • Experience operating hand and power tools safely
  • Ability to solder, braze, and weld
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, diagrams, and specifications

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding, elevated platforms, and boom lifts
  • Ability to climb, bend, kneel, twist, push, pull, and stand for extended periods
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, or extended shifts as project schedules require
