HVAC Project Manager

Downers Grove, IL

Up to $140,000 Base Salary + Bonus + ESOP + Excellent Benefits

Are you an experienced HVAC Project Manager looking for an opportunity with a company that values its employees, supports professional development, and offers genuine long-term career progression?

A well-established design-build contractor is seeking an experienced HVAC Project Manager to join its growing team in Downers Grove, IL. This organization has earned a strong reputation within the industry for delivering high-quality projects while maintaining a supportive, employee-focused culture.

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven project management professional who wants to take ownership of challenging projects, work alongside experienced industry professionals, and build a rewarding long-term career.

The Opportunity

As an HVAC Project Manager, you will oversee the HVAC and mechanical aspects of a variety of complex construction projects. The project portfolio includes industrial facilities, manufacturing environments, controlled environment agriculture, and large-scale commercial developments.

Working within an integrated design-build environment, you will be involved throughout the entire project lifecycle, beginning with preconstruction and continuing through final project completion. You will work closely with internal design professionals, field teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to coordinate activities and ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

You will take overall responsibility for managing the HVAC and mechanical scope from the early planning and preconstruction stages through procurement, construction, and closeout. This will include coordinating subcontractors, overseeing procurement activities, managing project schedules, monitoring budgets, and maintaining strong communication with all project stakeholders.

You will collaborate closely with internal designers, superintendents, clients, and other members of the project team to keep work progressing efficiently. A key part of the role will be ensuring projects remain on schedule and within budget while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and client satisfaction.

The successful candidate will be expected to take ownership of their projects, proactively identify potential challenges, and work with the wider team to develop effective solutions from project start through completion.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have a degree or professional background in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, along with proven experience managing HVAC or mechanical scopes on commercial and/or industrial construction projects.

Previous experience working within a design-build environment would be highly advantageous. We are looking for someone who is organized, motivated, and confident taking responsibility for projects from initial planning through final delivery.

Strong communication, coordination, and project management skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively with clients, subcontractors, designers, and field personnel.

What's on Offer

The successful candidate will receive a base salary of up to $140,000, along with a performance-based bonus, Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), and a comprehensive benefits package.

Additional benefits include a one-month paid sabbatical every five years and a $28,000 scholarship programme for each child.

The organization also provides clear opportunities for career progression and places a strong emphasis on promoting from within. Employees are encouraged to contribute ideas, develop their skills, and take an active role in the continued success of the business.

If you’re an experienced HVAC Project Manager ready to take on challenging projects while working in a collaborative environment that values its people and offers genuine long-term career opportunities, this could be an excellent next step.
