State Mechanical Services is hiring an experienced HVAC Project Manager to lead commercial mechanical construction projects across the Chicagoland market. If you are a disciplined Mechanical Project Manager who protects margin, drives schedule performance, and thrives in a structured environment, this role offers stability, authority clarity, and enterprise-level support.
We are a growing commercial mechanical contractor specializing in design-build and design-assist HVAC construction. Powered by the MechanAir platform, we operate with strong governance, safety-first standards, and financial accountability.
What You'll Do
As a Commercial HVAC Project Manager, you will:
  • Manage HVAC and mechanical construction projects from award through closeout
  • Protect gross margin through cost control and disciplined forecasting
  • Maintain accurate cost-to-complete projections
  • Enforce contractual scope and structured change management
  • Coordinate field supervision, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Lead owner/architect/contractor (OAC) meetings
  • Ensure documentation accuracy within Procore
  • Reinforce jobsite safety compliance

Success means predictable project performance, strong documentation, and clean financial execution.
What You Bring
  • 3-7 years of commercial HVAC or mechanical construction project management experience
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and construction schedules
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, drawings, and contracts
  • Experience forecasting costs and protecting project margin
  • Proficiency in Procore or comparable PM systems
  • Ability to manage multiple HVAC construction projects simultaneously

Union mechanical construction experience is a plus.
