An entry-level HVAC mechanical engineer designs and engineers heating, venting, and air conditioning systems for commercial and residential clients. In designing these mechanical systems, you use schematics and drawings to plan the HVAC system layout, considering the needs of the occupants as well as the structural elements of the building. You follow building and safety codes to ensure the installation is safe. Your responsibilities also include running tests post-installation to verify the system’s performance. Your duties also involve managing a team of workers who assist with the planning and installation of HVAC projects and consulting with building inspectors to confirm the system meets regulations.
