HVAC Foreman: 

The HVAC Foreman is responsible for leading daily operations within the HVAC manufacturing department, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality production of custom commercial HVAC equipment. This role oversees fabrication, assembly, and testing activities while ensuring products meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, and delivery commitments.

The position requires strong HVAC technical knowledge combined with effective people leadership. The HVAC Foreman works closely with engineering, production planning, and quality teams to ensure custom HVAC units are built accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with design intent. This role serves as the primary operational leader within the HVAC production area and is responsible for team performance, workflow execution, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Duties: 

  • Enforce and promote all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, with emphasis on safe lifting, electrical, and refrigerant-related practices.
  • Lead daily operations within the HVAC production department including mechanical assembly, piping, electrical integration, and system testing.
  • Supervise production personnel including scheduling, attendance oversight, work assignments, and daily workflow coordination.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and HVAC system layouts to ensure proper unit assembly and manufacturing accuracy.
  • Ensure HVAC systems are manufactured according to engineering specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate closely with engineering teams to resolve design questions, improve manufacturability, and address technical issues during production.
  • Manage staffing levels and workflow priorities to meet production schedules and delivery targets for custom HVAC equipment.
  • Hold team members accountable for safety, quality, productivity, and adherence to manufacturing standards.
  • Conduct training, coaching, performance feedback, and disciplinary actions when required.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and development of HVAC production personnel.
  • Monitor production performance metrics, quality performance, and rework trends; initiate corrective actions when targets are not met.
  • Troubleshoot production challenges related to HVAC components, mechanical assemblies, electrical systems, and airflow systems.
  • Lead shift meetings and communicate priorities, updates, and expectations clearly to the team.
  • Drive adherence to workplace organization standards (5S) and promote efficient work practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve HVAC manufacturing processes, assembly efficiency, and product quality.
  • Ensure proper material handling, equipment operation, and documentation compliance within the HVAC department.
  • Maintain accurate records related to production output, personnel, safety incidents, and quality performance.
  • Support cross-department collaboration and operational coverage as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Technical degree in HVAC, mechanical systems, or related field required.
  • Strong HVAC industry experience required, preferably in commercial or industrial HVAC equipment manufacturing or installation
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing or technical environment preferred
  • Solid understanding of HVAC systems including air handling units, ventilation systems, coils, fans, ducting, refrigeration circuits, and controls
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and HVAC schematics
  • Familiarity with custom equipment manufacturing or engineered-to-order products preferred
  • Strong understanding of safety, quality, and operational workflow principles
  • Effective communication, conflict resolution, and team leadership skills
  • Ability to make independent decisions and manage multiple priorities
  • Solid problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Basic computer proficiency for reporting, scheduling, and documentation
  • Experience working with ERP systems, production scheduling tools, or manufacturing systems preferred
  • Adaptability and commitment to continuous improvement.
