Job description

At Humm, we're passionate about creating high-quality kombucha through innovation, craftsmanship, and teamwork. We believe great products start with great people, and we're looking for a dedicated Fermentation Technician to join our production team in Sisters, Oregon.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with brewing, fermentation, food production, or manufacturing experience who enjoys hands-on work and wants to play a direct role in crafting premium kombucha from start to finish.

Shift Schedule:
Tuesday-Thursday from 4am-4:30pm PST (Full-Time, Company Paid Medical Benefits, 4 Full Days off!)
About the Role

As a Fermentation Technician, you will be responsible for brewing tea, fermenting kombucha, and finishing products with flavor and carbonation according to established recipes and procedures. You'll work closely with the production team to ensure every batch meets Humm's high standards for quality, consistency, and food safety.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and takes pride in producing exceptional products.

What You'll Do:Brewing amp; Production
  • Produce finished kombucha according to established recipes and production schedules.
  • Perform brewing, fermentation, flavoring, and carbonation processes following standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor fermentation processes and product quality throughout production.
  • Complete process checklists, production logs, inventory counts, and end-of-day reports.
  • Maintain accurate records using ERP systems and production tracking tools.
Quality amp; Food Safety
  • Follow all Food Safety Management System requirements, GMPs, and SQF standards.
  • Perform daily quality assurance and quality control checks on raw materials, fermenting product, and finished kombucha.
  • Maintain clean and sanitary equipment, tanks, and work areas.
  • Support compliance with food safety, sanitation, and quality programs.
Teamwork amp; Continuous Improvement
  • Participate in daily cross-functional communication and production updates.
  • Contribute ideas and support continuous improvement initiatives within the brewing department.
  • Attend departmental and company meetings as required.
  • Adapt quickly to changing priorities and production needs while maintaining a positive attitude.
What We're Looking For:Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum six months of brewing, fermentation, food processing, or manufacturing experience.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and standardized procedures.
  • Basic computer skills, including email, spreadsheets, and word processing.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain forklift certification.
  • Strong work ethic and desire to learn and grow.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a commercial brewing, fermentation, beverage, or food manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using ERP or production tracking systems.
  • Google Workspace experience.
Physical Requirements amp; Work Environment:

This role is highly active and requires working in a manufacturing environment.

  • Frequently lift and move up to 55 pounds.
  • Stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive movements throughout a 12-hour shift.
  • Work at heights when required.
  • Work in loud, humid, acidic, refrigerated, indoor, and outdoor environments.
  • Safely operate around forklifts, pallet jacks, pumps, chemicals, heavy equipment, and temperature-controlled liquids.
  • Ability to work safely while following all company safety policies and procedures.
