Project Overview:

Thacker Pass is the largest known lithium resource in the United States. Once complete, the mine and processing facilities will produce more lithium carbonate than any other facility in the United States by far - enough to power 1 million electric vehicles per year.
As the EPCM contractor for Lithium Americas, Bechtel is responsible for managing and integrating the efforts of a team contractors engineering and building the facility. We are also managing procurement of about $1 Billion in goods and services.
Earth work began in 2023 and design and procurement of long-lead equipment is underway.
The project is located in the high desert and wide-open spaces of north-central Nevada about 25 miles from the Oregon border, 1 hour northwest of Winnemucca, Nevada and 3 hours northeast of Reno.
Planned with sustainability and the environment in mind, the facility will use its excess process heat to generate electricity and will recycle process water up to seven times. Once the second phase of the project is complete, Thacker Pass will produce more than 16 times the current U.S. output of lithium.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will manage the Night Shift operations and direction of project construction activities and oversee management including supervision of construction craft personnel, ES&H and field engineering. Your leadership will ensure project operations are compliant, safe, timely, within scope and budget, and clients are satisfied. #LI-NP1

Major Responsibilities:

* Manages the organization and direction of construction and related activities, including actions of Bechtel, subcontractors, suppliers, clients, and their representatives.
* Acts as primary client contact for all night shift field activities.
* Oversees total night shift management including supervision of construction craft personnel, ES&H personnel and field engineering,
* Oversees night shift expenditures for labor equipment, material & services and ensures field operations are within the budget.
* Establishes project field procedures and objectives within corporate policies and procedures as necessitated by conditions at a jobsite.
* Implements, and administers a night shift security plan and coordinates the activities with corporate security department.
* Plans and establishes procedures to ensure construction operations meet engineering designs and specifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

* Requires bachelor's or master's degree and 15+ years of relevant experience or 19+ years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of all phases of construction operations relating to field activities of all disciplines, all construction technologies and job-site management.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Handbook and the Bechtel Core Processes
  • Knowledge of Bechtel's "Zero Accidents" safety program.
  • Knowledge of project-specific environmental compliance requirements and general awareness of environmental laws.
  • Knowledge of government compliance standards.
  • Heavy industrial US direct hire construction experience
  • Knowledge of local labor laws and issues.
  • Knowledge of manual craft timekeeping, word processing, spreadsheet and other standard applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards.
  • Knowledge of project and Bechtel Quality Assurance program.
  • Working knowledge of Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs)
  • Prior US Mega-Project experience
