Job description

Job Responsibilities Midlands Technical College is a public, multi-campus, two-year public college serving the primary region of Richland, Lexington and Fairfield counties of South Carolina that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Midlands Technical College is dedicated to providing excellent service to its students, employees, and the community. Adjunct Professors in the Humanities Department provide instruction in courses for which they are qualified.

Possible disciplines include Art, French, History, Music, Philosophy, Religion, Spanish, Speech, or Theatre, depending on the applicant's qualifications. Candidates may be asked to teach classes at multiple campuses and off-campus sites, including high schools, or in online formats. Duties include conducting appropriate learning activities, maintaining effective instructional management, and participating in all required trainings, meetings, progress reports, and Student Learning Outcomes assessments.

Midlands Technical College is dedicated to providing excellent service to its students, employees, and the community. This position is located on various Midlands Technical College campuses and off-campus instructional sites in the Humanities department. Minimum and Additional Requirements Master of Arts in discipline (ART, FRE, HIS, MUS, PHI, REL, SPA, SPC, or THE); or Master of Arts plus 18 graduate hours in a needed field.

Preferred Qualifications Past experience in teaching introductory-level college courses is preferred. Additional Comments Compensation Adjunct faculty are compensated in accordance with Midlands Technical College's established pay schedule. The standard adjunct pay rate is $2914 per three-credit-hour course.

Final compensation may vary depending on academic credentials and total course credit hours. Any variation is determined upon hire and outlined in the faculty employment agreement.
