Position Summary
Credence has an immediate need for a Data Architect to lead the design, integration, and documentation of enterprise reporting and analytics solutions within a cloud environment.
In this role, the Data Architect will be responsible for developing scalable architectural frameworks, robust data models, and enterprise integration strategies that support mission-critical analytics capabilities. The position requires close alignment with Federal and DoD standards, ensuring compliance, security, and best practices across all data solutions.
The ideal candidate will play a key role in shaping data architecture strategy, enabling data-driven decision-making, and ensuring the seamless integration of diverse data sources across the enterprise.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the duties listed below:
Architectural Design & Integration
  • Develop and deliver an Architectural Design and Integration Plan with Configuration Requirements demonstrating compliance with enterprise reporting needs in a GovCloud environment.
  • Must have the ability to design and implement data access controls based on user roles and permissions.
  • Define a conceptual deployment framework for reporting tools within the GovCloud architecture.
  • Collaborate with the Integrated Product Team (IPT) to ensure alignment with enterprise integration requirements.
  • Produce logical and physical architecture diagrams illustrating system components, interactions, infrastructure, and deployment strategies.
  • Ensure alignment with DevSecOps best practices across Development, Staging, and Production environments.
  • Communicate environment configuration requirements to Managed Service Providers (MSPs) to ensure consistency across environments.
  • Document installation, configuration processes, and lessons learned for all tools and supporting technologies.

Enterprise Tool Alignment & Compliance
  • Evaluate and incorporate platform tools where applicable.
  • Justify and document any proposed deviations, including obtaining required Government approvals.
  • Ensure interoperability and integration across enterprise analytics platforms.

Data Discovery & Current State Analysis
  • Lead data discovery sessions with stakeholders to identify:
    • Databases, schemas, tables, columns, and data objects
    • Data sources and reporting dependencies
  • Coordinate with stakeholders and report owners to validate data sources and structures.
  • Analyze data relationships, dependencies, and flows across systems.
  • Document detailed metadata including field names, data types, constraints, and relationships
  • Develop and deliver a Current State Physical Data Model with stakeholder validation.

Data Modeling & Future State Design
  • Ability to design and implement data access controls based on user roles and permissions."
  • Design and deliver Future State Logical and Physical Data Models aligned with reporting modernization goals.
  • Define optimized data structures, relationships, and data flows to support enterprise reporting.
  • Facilitate stakeholder validation sessions to ensure alignment with customer objectives for:
    • Accuracy
    • Accessibility
    • Scalability
  • Incorporate feedback and finalize models as authoritative artifacts supporting migration and consolidation efforts.

Documentation & Deliverables
  • Produce comprehensive, structured documentation including:
    • Architectural Design and Integration Plan
    • Logical and Physical Architecture Diagrams
    • Current State Data Model Documentation
    • Future State Data Models (Logical & Physical)
    • Environment Configuration Requirements (Dev, Staging, Prod)
    • Installation and Configuration Guides
  • Ensure all deliverables meet client documentation standards and are accessible for future use.

Requirements
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or related field.
    • 8+ years of experience in data architecture, enterprise data modeling, or analytics platforms.
    • Demonstrated experience designing solutions in cloud environments (AWS/Google GovCloud preferred).

Strong expertise in:
    • Data modeling (logical & physical)
    • Data warehousing and reporting architectures
    • ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines

Experience with one or more of the following:
    • Qlik, SAS Viya, SAP BusinessObjects
    • Cloudera ecosystem
    • Streamlit, D3, UI5
    • Experience supporting DevSecOps pipelines and environment promotion strategies.
    • Strong documentation and diagramming skills (e.g., UML, ER diagrams).

Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience working with federal government or DoD environments, particularly DLA.
    • Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance requirements in GovCloud.
    • Experience supporting large-scale reporting modernization or consolidation efforts.
    • Knowledge of data cataloging and metadata management tools.
    • Must be a US Citizen and with the ability to obtain a Defense Secret Clearance
    • Active Clearance is preferred
