General Information:
The work is straightforward, helping each other out and working as a team to get the job done.
The Kitchen Services Associate helps to maintain kitchen works areas, equipment and utensils in a clean and orderly condition in all VMFA kitchens. Reporting to the Events Executive Chef, this role helps support management with necessary maintenance, clean up, dishwashing, sweeping, mopping and other duties as needed.
Here is how a Kitchen Services Associate accomplishes this as part of a team:
• Maintain a clean and organized dish area.
• Ensure trash and recycling are taken out.
• Help assist other dish areas in Best Cafe and Amuse restaurants when needed.
• Work on various cleaning tasks during down time.
• Organize dishes, silverware, platters, cups, plates, etc.
• Sweep and mop floors as needed (to include work areas, cafe, kitchen floors).
• Keep cleaning chemicals stocked and alert manager to equipment or product needs.
• Help prepare foods for Best Café, Special Events, Amuse and Floris when needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to demonstrate a professional demeanor with guests and other employees.
• Ability to read, comprehend and follow basic direction and instruction.
• Ability to handle fast paced, high volume situations in a kitchen
• Ability to remain calm, professional and gracious in a fast paced, high-pressure environment.
• Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and appearance during shifts.
• Ability to receive feedback well.
• Ability to be prompt and punctual to scheduled shifts.
• Ability to stand or walk for up to 10 hours.
• Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
• Flexible availability that includes weekends and evenings.
• Ability to work as part of a team; flexible when given different assignments and directions.
• Motivated with strong work ethic; self-starter.
Additional Considerations:
• Prior general cleaning experience or hospitality related experience.
• General experience with cleaning chemicals and dish machines.
• Ability to work independently and effectively without direct supervision.
• ServSafe Food Handler's certification is a plus.
