Day in the Life
As a Human Resources Assistant, you will provide centralized HR administrative support for both the Moundville and Thomasville Lumber operations. Your day may include supporting recruiting and onboarding activities, assisting with payroll records, maintaining employee files and HRIS data, preparing workforce reports, coordinating employee recognition events, and assisting employees and supervisors with HR-related questions.

You will work closely with the HR Representatives and site leadership to help ensure consistent, accurate, and employee-focused HR service delivery across both locations. This role is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, confidentiality, organization, and supporting people in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
• Serve as centralized HR administrative support for multiple locations.
• Provide backup payroll processing support and maintain payroll-related records.
• Support recruiting efforts, interview scheduling, applicant tracking, career fairs, and onboarding activities across both mills.
• Maintain employee files and HRIS data integrity.
• Assist with FMLA, leave of absence, Sickness & Accident, ADA accommodation tracking, and other administrative compliance processes.
• Support annual review processes and talent management programs.
• Prepare HR metrics, workforce reports, turnover reports, attendance reports, and other analytics.
• Coordinate employee recognition, service awards, engagement initiatives, and special events.
• Support ADP Workforce Manager administration and employee self-service activities.
• Maintain training records, certifications, and compliance documentation.
• Provide administrative support for investigations, corrective actions, policy rollouts, and employee communications.
• Maintain training, incident, and compliance documentation and support safety-related administrative activities as directed.
• Travel between Moundville and Thomasville mills as business needs require.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.

What We Are Looking For:

Required Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience in Human Resources and payroll.
• Experience working with vendors and employees.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 1-3 years of HR, payroll, or safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
• ADP Payroll/HR experience.
• Experience with ADP Workforce Manager, ADP Workforce Now, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and document management systems.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements
• Ability to work in an office and manufacturing environment.
• Ability to use office equipment and computer systems.
• Ability to maintain visual, hearing, handling, reaching, coordinating, compiling, computing, and analyzing functions as part of regular job duties.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 10 pounds as needed.
• Ability to wear and/or operate required PPE when in designated areas.
• Ability to travel between Moundville and Thomasville locations as business needs require.
