About NSLAC

North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic (NSLAC) is a dynamic nonprofit with a collaborative culture and the goal of becoming the model legal aid organization focused on suburban communities. The mission of NSLAC is to provide accessible, quality, equitable, free legal services in the areas of domestic violence, housing, and immigration to give low-income, at-risk community members access to justice and the opportunity to live productive and secure lives. NSLAC is an 11-year-old dynamic nonprofit with a collaborative culture and the goal of becoming the model legal aid organization focused on suburban communities.


As our HR Manager, you will oversee the full employee lifecyclefrom recruitment and onboarding to performance management, payroll coordination, and employee relations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on execution, and who values collaboration, integrity, and continuous improvement.

What Youll Do

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, candidate review, and interview coordination
  • Lead onboarding processes, ensuring a seamless new hire experience
  • Administer payroll and benefits processes with a high level of accuracy
  • Support performance management, including reviews and employee development
  • Serve as a confidential resource for employee relations, coaching, and conflict resolution
  • Ensure compliance with HR policies, employment laws, and organizational procedures
  • Coordinate required trainings and maintain HR records and systems
  • Oversee internship program recruitment and administration

What You Bring

  • Bachelors degree in HR, Psychology, or related field (PHR/SPHR preferred)
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including operations and compliance
  • Experience with HRIS systems (BambooHR preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • High level of discretion, professionalism, and integrity

Salary and Benefits:

  • $70,000-$80,000 annually, commensurate with experience;
  • Hybrid work schedule;
