Position Summary

The Human Resources Generalist serves as a key member of the Human Resources team, supporting Rocky Mountain Communities' mission by administering and coordinating a wide range of HR functions. This position is responsible for employee lifecycle activities including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, payroll administration, HRIS management, compliance, training coordination, and benefits support. The HR Generalist partners with employees, supervisors, and leadership to foster a positive workplace culture while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Human Resources Operations

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee questions regarding HR policies, programs, benefits, and procedures.
  • Administer daily HR operations and maintain accurate employee personnel records and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable labor laws, company policies, and affordable housing industry requirements.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of HR processes and procedures.
  • Prepare HR reports, metrics, and workforce data for leadership review.

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment activities including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, reference checks, and offer preparation.
  • Partner with hiring managers to support workforce planning and staffing needs.
  • Coordinate new hire onboarding and orientation to ensure a positive employee experience.
  • Manage employee offboarding, exit interviews, and separation documentation.

Employee Relations

  • Provide guidance and support to employees and supervisors on workplace issues, policy interpretation, and conflict resolution.
  • Escalate complex employee relations matters to the Director of Human Resources as appropriate.
  • Support employee engagement, recognition, and retention initiatives.

Payroll & HRIS Administration

  • Process or coordinate biweekly payroll administration through ADP Workforce Now.
  • Audit timekeeping records and resolve payroll discrepancies.
  • Maintain employee data within ADP and ensure accuracy and integrity of records.
  • Generate and analyze HR and payroll reports as needed.
  • Support benefits administration, enrollment changes, and employee communications.

Training & Compliance

  • Coordinate required compliance, safety, and professional development training.
  • Manage employee access and records within the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Track training completion and maintain compliance documentation.
  • Assist with audits and reporting requirements.

Administrative Support

  • Coordinate HR meetings, interviews, training sessions, and other departmental activities.
  • Support CEO calendar
  • Provide Office Manager duties
  • Coordinate All Staff Meetings & Events
  • Maintain employee awards program
  • Prepare quarterly board meeting materials
  • Support special projects and organizational initiatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and organizational information.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible human resources experience.
  • Experience supporting multiple HR functions including recruiting, payroll, employee relations, and compliance.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now or a comparable HRIS/payroll platform preferred.
  • Experience in nonprofit, affordable housing, property management, or community development organizations is a plus.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of HR laws and practices.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe.
