This is a unique Human Resources leader role, intended for operations-enabled experience minded people, not a "traditional" HR leader. The Managing Director, HR plays a critical role in aligning corporate Centers of Excellence (COEs) and clinical operations with enterprise-wide physician leadership development and talent strategy. Reporting to the Chief People Officer with a dotted line to the Chief Operations Officer and Chief Medical Officer, this role leads the design, implementation, and execution of programs that drive performance, succession planning, leadership development, and engagement of COEs and physician leaders across markets. This leader partners closely with Regional Presidents, Market Clinical Directors, Talent Management, HR Business Partners, and clinical operations leaders to ensure strategic alignment and a culture of excellence.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serves as the principal advisor on all physician and operations leadership talent strategies for clinical markets and other COEs.
  • Ensures execution of the talent lifecycle for clinical, operations and COE talent.
  • Ensures execution of onboarding, training, and continuous development programs for Center Medical Directors, Market Clinical Directors, Regional Clinical Leaders, center operations leadership and COEs.
  • Collaborates with HR COEs to develop scalable programs in performance management, engagement, and retention.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and Recruiting teams to support sourcing strategies and role clarity for COEs, clinical and operations leadership.
  • Evaluates organizational metrics (e.g., turnover, engagement scores, onboarding effectiveness) to guide development efforts.
  • Provides consultation to COEs, market and regional clinical and operations leaders on organization design, change management, and clinical transformation initiatives.
  • Serves as the SME and strategic liaison between national clinical leadership and the field operations on HR priorities and programs.
  • Monitors and evaluates the impact of talent programs on clinical outcomes, team member engagement, patient satisfaction, and leadership bench strength.
  • Develops, implements and evaluates leader training by conducting needs assessments, consulting with markets, evaluating requests and analyzing organizational metrics such as turnover, termination data, and onboarding feedback.
  • Manages and directs the efforts of his/her team and is responsible for hiring, training, coaching, disciplining, managing performance, developing and engaging personnel, to maintain a skilled and productive workforce to meet or exceed business goals.
  • Serves as a change agent for and advisor to COEs, Region/Market leaders, physicians, clinicians, nurses and center operations staff to assist them on their conversion to and maintenance of value-based care.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and modified at manager's discretion.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Deep understanding of clinical operations, value-based care, and physician leadership needs.
  • Proven experience in talent development, succession planning, and clinical leadership coaching.
  • Strategic mindset with ability to align talent programs with business and clinical goals.
  • Strong organizational development and change management expertise.
  • Exceptional influence and executive presence across diverse clinical and administrative stakeholders.
  • Data-driven approach to measuring the effectiveness of people strategies.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven healthcare organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and learning/talent platforms.
  • Spoken and written fluency in English
  • This job requires use and exercise of independent judgment
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA:
  • BA/BS in Healthcare Administration, Human Resources, or a related field required.
  • Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MHA, MHRM) preferred.
  • Minimum of 10-12 years of healthcare leadership, clinical operations, or HR experience, including experience managing physician-facing talent programs.
  • Demonstrated success in building physician development infrastructure and programs in a multi-site healthcare or medical group environment.
  • SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or other relevant certifications preferred

PAY RANGE:
$181,651 - $259,502 Salary
The posted pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for this position. Final compensation will depend on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, education, geographic location, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for a bonuses or commissions.
