What is a human directional?

Human directionals, also known as sign spinners or sign holders, are individuals hired to stand in public areas and attract attention to a business, event, or promotion by holding and often spinning signs. Their main goal is to increase foot traffic and brand awareness by engaging passersby through eye-catching movements and creative sign displays. This role is commonly used by retail stores, real estate agencies, and service businesses to drive local customer interest.

What does a human directional do?

A Human Directional, also known as a sign spinner or sign holder, is a person who stands in high-traffic areas to attract attention to a business, event, or promotion using a handheld sign. They may use simple holding techniques or perform tricks and movements to increase visibility. This job requires physical stamina, enthusiasm, and the ability to engage passersby effectively. It is commonly used for advertising real estate, retail stores, and special events.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a human directional?

To thrive as a Human Directional, you need strong physical stamina, time management, and the ability to follow instructions, though formal education is not typically required. Familiarity with sign-spinning techniques and experience using promotional props or costumes are useful. Outstanding energy, enthusiasm, and approachability help attract attention and engage passersby. These skills ensure you effectively promote businesses by maximizing visibility and drawing in potential customers.

What are common challenges faced by human directionals, and how can they be overcome?

Human Directionals often work outdoors for extended periods, which means dealing with various weather conditions and physical fatigue. Staying motivated and maintaining high energy levels, especially during slow traffic times, can also be challenging. To overcome these, it's important to wear weather-appropriate clothing, take scheduled breaks, stay hydrated, and use creative movements to keep both yourself and potential customers engaged. Additionally, establishing a good working relationship with your supervisor can help ensure your comfort and safety on the job.

Job description

T1 Energy is bringing solar manufacturing back to the U.S. by building a domestic solar supply chain. Our mission is to invigorate America with scalable, reliable, and low-cost energy. Our fully operational 5GW solar module facility in Wilmer, Texas, can manufacture more than 20,000 modules every 24 hours. By the time you finish reading this paragraph, we will have produced two solar panels that will power American homes and fuel domestic AI. We're focused on building advanced American manufacturing and we're passionate about engineering a better future filled with abundant energy.
The Role
T1 Energy is looking to hire a HR Coordinator. This is a great opportunity for someone who's ready to grow their HR career in a hands-on, people-centered environment. As our HR Coordinator, you'll support our HR Generalist with the day-to-day HR needs of our team. Whether you're helping an employee understand their benefits or processing paperwork, you'll play a big part in keeping our facility running smoothly.
What You'll Do
• Assist the HR Generalist with employee relations issues, escalating concerns as appropriate.
• Greet and direct employees who come to HR with questions or concerns, providing first-line support and information.
• Process HR documentation including new hire paperwork, terminations, status changes, and leave requests.
• Maintain accurate employee records in UKG (our HRIS) and time-keeping systems.
• Support attendance tracking by logging occurrences, running reports, and flagging patterns to the Generalist.
• Assist with new hire orientations and shift-specific onboarding tasks for the night shift.
• Coordinate with the Onboarding Supervisor to ensure new hires are properly set up in systems prior to their start.
• Prepare HR documents including offer letters, warning notices, and other standard correspondence under the direction of the Generalist.
• Help maintain a welcoming, approachable HR presence on the floor.
• Assist with special HR projects and administrative tasks as assigned.
Who You Are
• Familiarity with HRIS systems (UKG is a plus), Microsoft Office, and general data entry.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to handle sensitive information with discretion.
• Friendly and approachable - employees should feel comfortable coming to you with questions.
• Ability to stay focused and effective while completing multiple tasks.
Qualifications
• 2+ year of HR, administrative, or customer service experience - manufacturing or warehouse experience.
• Associate's degree or coursework in HR or Business.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in a high-volume or 24/7 operation.
• Pursuing HR certification (aPHR, SHRM-CP) - we love to support professional development!
• Experience supporting a large workforce.
• Bachelor's degree in human resources or another related field is preferred.
The T1 Way
We move fast, expect accountability, and treat people with respect. We also have a no-jerks policy: we don't tolerate big egos, bad behavior or "that's not my job attitude". Be sharp, be honest, be human. If you can hold the line and have a sense of humor, you'll fit right in.
T1 Energy is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees and applicants and do not discriminate on the basis of any legally protected characteristics.
