Summary
The School of Applied Human Development invites applications for one qualified rank, non-tenure track, Assistant Teaching Professor in Interior Design with a start date of August 2026. This is a nine-month non renewable appointment.
Bowling Green State University's Interior Design program is a four-year bachelor's program (BSID) accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design {NASAD). The Program aspires to be a student centered learning community for developing individuals and shaping the future through learning, discovery, collaboration and personal growth.
The School of Applied Human Development is a multidisciplinary school within the College of Education and Human Development that is dedicated to communicating, advancing, and applying knowledge that fosters the well-being of individuals and families. There are approximately 800 students in the undergraduate programs of Exercise Science, Fashion Merchandising and Product Development, Human Development and Family Science, Interior Design, Sport Management, and Tourism, Hospitality, and Event Management, and in the graduate programs of Athletic Training and Sport Administration and Kinesiology. The school is supported by approximately thirty-seven full-time faculty and staff.
The College of Education and Human Development, BGSU's founding college, is the home to a dynamic group of graduate and undergraduate programs, housed across three academic units: the School of Applied Human Development; the School of Counseling, Higher Education, Leadership, and Foundations; and the School of Inclusive Teacher Education. Approximately 150 full-time faculty and staff serve over 3,000 undergraduate students and over 1,000 graduate students. The College promotes and supports a community of inclusion, collaboration, and respect for students, faculty, and staff. This strong sense of community serves as the central tenet for the College's priorities for integrating professional preparation, leadership and service, experiential learning, and inquiry and innovation in all academic programs and related experiences. The College has extensive partnerships across professional, school, and community settings that facilitate collaboration for student experiences and research opportunities.

Essential Functions
Primary Functions
• Teach undergraduate courses in the Interior Design program.
• Contribute to the school, college, university, and profession through service and engagement activities.
Specific Responsibilities
• Undergraduate teaching of four (4) courses per semester. Major responsibility for teaching interior design studios. Studios and courses are primarily face- to-face, with some on line and evening sections.
• Provide service to the program, school, college, university, and professional associations.
• Advise undergraduate students.
Minimum Qualifications
• Master's degree completed by August, 2026.
• At least one degree in interior design or a related field.
• Three years of professional experience in the field.
Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of the Canvas course management system, university, and on line teaching.
• Terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D.) in interior design, or a related field.
• Evidence of effective teaching experience at the university level.
