Job description

Job Description

At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. Weโ€™re turning todayโ€™s impossible into tomorrowโ€™s standard โ€”from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features.

Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.

Company Vehicle: Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate. Note: program participants are required to purchase/lease a qualifying GM vehicle every four years unless one of a limited number of exceptions applies.

The Role

The Engineering Process Center of Excellence (CoE) Engineering Group Manager (EGM) leads, coaches, and develops a team of engineering process owners and subject matter experts. This role is accountable for the development, deployment, and maintenance of processes, standards, and operational plans that support the organizationโ€™s business strategies and have a direct impact on enterprise results. The Process CoE EGM ensures alignment to GMโ€™s Global Product Safety Principles and drives consistency across engineering business processes.

The Engineering Process CoE team is transforming to provide strategic, cross-functional alignment across all GM business units that influence engineering processes. This leader will proactively identify and execute opportunities to streamline the enterprise, reduce complexity, and drive toward the most efficient, common solutions. They will influence stakeholders across the enterprise to adopt new concepts, practices, and approaches, identifying issues and updating or improving complex work methods while promoting GMโ€™s values.

What Youโ€™ll Do (Responsibilities)
  • Ensure engineering business processes are streamlined, efficient, documented, and well controlled.
  • Ensure processes comply with GMโ€™s external and internal safety requirements.
  • Partner with GMโ€™s internal audit and safety teams to continuously audit processes and close identified gaps.
  • Partner with cross-functional corporate process owners to drive process commonality, standardization, and efficiency.
  • Lead a team of approximately 15โ€“20 process owners and SMEs within the Engineering Process CoE, Strategy and Governance team in the Global Engineering Operations and Specifications organization.
  • Identify, prioritize, and execute efficiency opportunities within current business processes to reduce proliferation of unique and bespoke tool solutions.
