This is a highly visible leadership role that combines operational leadership, stakeholder influence, coaching, and strategic execution. You will be responsible for driving HSE excellence across a complex and highly matrixed organization, partnering with business leaders to ensure health, safety, environmental, and risk management priorities are embedded into day-to-day operations.
Success in this role requires more than technical HSE expertise. We are looking for a leader who can build trusted relationships, influence without direct authority, navigate competing priorities, and create followership across a broad network of operational and functional stakeholders.
What We Offer
  • Opportunity to lead HSE strategy and performance across one of Maersk's largest operational regions
  • Direct influence on employee safety, operational excellence, risk management, and business performance
  • Exposure to senior leaders across Logistics & Services, Transportation, Warehousing, Air, and Ground Freight operations

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a regional team of HSE professionals supporting approximately 100 facilities across the Eastern region
  • Drive implementation of global HSE standards while ensuring alignment with local regulatory and operational requirements
  • Partner with operational leaders to identify, assess, and mitigate health, safety, and environmental risks
  • Champion a culture of safety, accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement across the business
  • Coach leaders and operations teams on HSE best practices, risk management, and compliance expectations
  • Conduct site visits, audits, reviews, and leadership engagements to strengthen frontline safety performance
  • Lead HSE improvement plans and ensure effective governance, reporting, and performance management
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners including Operations, People, Legal, Procurement, Customer Experience, and Global HSE teams
  • Support growth initiatives, facility launches, customer implementations, and operational expansions through HSE risk assessments and planning

Who We Are Looking For
  • We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds who are passionate about protecting people, driving operational excellence, and building strong relationships across organizations
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Health, Safety & Environment leadership roles
  • Strong experience supporting warehousing, transportation, logistics, distribution, or supply chain operations
  • Proven track record leading multi-site HSE programs and geographically dispersed teams
  • Experience managing managers and developing high-performing teams
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority
  • Strong problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and change-management capabilities
  • Ability to balance strategic priorities with hands-on operational leadership
  • University degree in HSE, Occupational Health, Safety, Risk, Security, Environmental Sciences, or a related field is preferred
  • Professional HSE certifications, OSHA-related credentials, or equivalent qualifications are valued
  • Experience working within large, matrixed, and global organizations is strongly preferred

Role Details
  • Location: Florham Park, NJ
  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Travel: Approximately 25-30%
  • Salary Range: $155,000 - $170,000 annually + 15% bonus opportunity
  • Additional Benefits: Company vehicle, fuel card, business-related toll reimbursement, and company-provided insurance for business use
