And committed to providing superior service and leaving things better than we found them.Job SummaryThe HSE Training & Instructional Design Specialist develops practical, engaging Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) training for employees working across ASRC Industrial (AIS) and its operating companies.This role requires direct industry experience in the construction, heavy civil, industrial contracting, environmental services, or closely related field. We are specifically seeking an experienced HSE professional who understands how work is performed in the field and can translate that experience into effective training. This is not a traditional corporate instructional design role.The successful candidate will understand the hazards, equipment, work practices, regulatory requirements, and operational realities associated with construction and industrial field environments. They will partner with HSE leaders, Operations, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to turn technical and regulatory information into clear, practical training that employees can understand and apply on the job.Training may include presentations, videos, photographs, demonstrations, hands-on learning, job aids, and other visual and interactive content.This is primarily a remote, office-based position and is not a site safety role. Occasional travel to operating companies and project locations is expected to observe work activities and capture real-world photographs, video, and other content to incorporate into training.Your ImpactDevelop and maintain practical, engaging HSE training programs for employees working in construction, heavy civil, industrial contracting, environmental services, and related operations.Use your direct industry and field experience to develop training that reflects the actual work employees perform and the hazards they encounter.Translate OSHA, regulatory, technical, and operational requirements into clear, practical training employees can understand and apply.Partner with HSE leaders, Operations, and SMEs to identify training needs and develop appropriate learning solutions.Work directly with HSE and operational SMEs to capture their technical knowledge, field experience, processes, and procedures and translate that information into effective training.Develop training related to HSE fundamentals, regulatory requirements, equipment, work practices, procedures, and operational activities.Create presentations, videos, photographs, demonstrations, job aids, and other learning materials that make technical and safety information understandable and engaging.Travel periodically to operating companies and project locations to observe work activities and capture photographs, video, and other real-world examples for training development.Manage multiple training requests and development projects across 20+ operating companies, prioritizing work based on regulatory, operational, and business needs.Establish project timelines, manage deliverables, communicate progress, and independently move training projects from concept through completion.Ensure training content accurately reflects applicable HSE requirements, company standards, and actual field operations.Apply adult learning principles and instructional design practices to improve understanding, retention, and application of HSE requirements.Develop standardized HSE training that can be effectively implemented across multiple operating companies and field environments.Incorporate appropriate graphics, video, photographs, demonstrations, and other visual elements to make complex information easier to understand.Review and continuously improve existing training based on regulatory changes, operational needs, employee feedback, and identified training gaps.Support the continued development of a strong and consistent HSE culture across AIS through effective employee education and training.Here's What You'll Need to HaveRequired7–10 years of progressive HSE, Safety, EHS, or related experience.Direct professional experience in construction, heavy civil construction, industrial contracting, environmental services, or a closely related field-based industry.Strong understanding of the day-to-day safety, operational, and regulatory realities of construction and industrial work environments.Approximately five years of experience in a senior-level HSE, safety, or operational role preferred.Demonstrated experience developing, delivering, or supporting HSE, safety, compliance, or technical training.Strong working knowledge of applicable HSE regulations and industry practices.Ability to take complex regulatory, technical, and operational information and translate it into clear, practical training for field employees.Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interview and collaborate with technical SMEs and turn their expertise into training content.Demonstrated ability to create effective presentations and other training materials.Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple training initiatives and competing priorities.Highly self-directed and able to work independently in a primarily remote environment.Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and the ability to learn and effectively use other content-development tools.Willingness to periodically travel to operating companies and project locations to gather real-world training content.What We Mean by "Industry Experience"Candidates should have hands-on professional experience in the environments our employees work in. Equivalent relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.Master's degree in a related discipline.Professional HSE or safety certification.Experience applying adult learning principles to HSE or technical training.Experience developing video-based training, eLearning, virtual training, or other multimedia learning content.Experience with instructional design or multimedia tools such as Articulate, Camtasia, Adobe products, Vyond, or similar platforms.Experience supporting multiple business units, operating companies, or geographically dispersed field organizations.Experience developing equipment-specific, hands-on, or demonstration-based training.Experience managing training content within an LMS or similar learning platform.Experience evaluating training effectiveness and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.Work Environment & TravelThis is primarily a remote, office-based position supporting HSE training across AIS operating companies.This is not a traditional site safety position and does not involve serving as the routine HSE representative on a construction project.Periodic travel to construction sites, industrial facilities, operating companies, and other field locations will be required to:Understand how work is performed in the field.Collaborate with HSE and operational SMEs.Observe equipment, processes, and work practices.Capture photographs and video for training development.Incorporate real-world examples into training materials.The successful candidate should be comfortable moving between field operations and a corporate/remote training-development environment and using their industry experience to make HSE training relevant to the employees who perform the work. Salary Range: $75,000 -$85,000 based on experience and qualifications,EEOASRC Industrial (AIS) is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
