Your Role
Thornton Tomasetti is seeking a strategic and experienced HRIS Manager to lead the governance, roadmap, and continuous evolution of our global HR technology ecosystem. This position is responsible for maximizing the value of Workday and other HR technologies that support more than 2,300 employees across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
Reporting to the Director of HR Operations & Technology, this role partners closely with HR leaders, Payroll, IT, Finance, and external vendors to deliver scalable technology solutions that improve employee experience, data integrity, compliance, automation, and reporting.
The HRIS Manager owns the product strategy, governance framework, vendor management, and global roadmap.
What You'll Do
HR Technology Strategy
  • Own the global Workday product roadmap across all modules, prioritizing enhancements, releases, and strategic initiatives.
  • Develop a multi-year HR technology strategy aligned with business growth and digital transformation objectives.
  • Evaluate emerging HR technologies and AI solutions that improve operational efficiency and employee experience.
  • Build business cases for new technology investments.

Workday Governance
  • Establish governance processes for Workday enhancements, releases, testing, and prioritization.
  • Approve significant configuration changes that impact global compliance, security, integrations, and statutory reporting.
  • Define system standards, design principles, and governance policies.
  • Lead release planning and executive prioritization.

Vendor Management
  • Manage relationships with Workday implementation partners, consulting firms, and HR technology vendors.
  • Lead vendor selection, contract management, performance reviews, and service delivery.
  • Ensure vendors meet project timelines, quality expectations, and budget commitments.

Global Compliance & Security
  • Establish global HR data governance standards.
  • Define security and privacy policies supporting:
  • GDPR
  • International data privacy regulations
  • Country-specific statutory requirements
  • Partner with IT Security to ensure compliance with internal security standards.

Digital Transformation & AI
  • Evaluate automation opportunities across HR Operations.
  • Lead AI governance for HR technology initiatives.
  • Prioritize automation projects that improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
  • Partner with HR leadership to modernize business processes.

Project Leadership
Lead enterprise HR technology initiatives including:

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive HRIS experience.
  • 5+ years administering or leading Workday in a global organization.

  • Strong understanding of:

Compensation
The rate for this position generally is $160,000 - $180,000 annually. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the New York Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful New York applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in New York or perform the position from New York. Similar positions located outside of New York will not necessarily receive the same compensation. Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by New York Equal Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employee already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee's pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.
