Job description

ABOUT THE POSITION

The HR Manager is the hands-on owner of day-to-day HR execution at Mammoth Sports Construction, personally driving recruiting, employee relations, compliance, performance management, compensation and benefits administration, HRIS, and culture programs. The HR Manager serves as the primary day-to-day point of contact for HR matters company-wide.

This role is based at Mammoth's Meriden, KS headquarters with periodic travel to the Kansas City location Some early morning, evening, or weekend availability may be required to support field operations or urgent employee relations matters.

HR Strategy Execution & Organizational Support

  • Execute HR strategy, workforce plans, and organizational design decisions set by Leadership ensuring consistent application across all locations
  • Support the ongoing evolution of the HR function’s structure, staffing, systems, and processes
  • Track and report HR spend (staffing, programs, training and development) to Leadership, flagging variances as they come up
  • Execute recognition, retention programs and culture initiatives

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Own full-cycle recruiting execution including sourcing, interviewing, and offers within the staffing plan and strategy set by Leadershio, ensuring timely staffing to support project schedules across all states
  • Extend offer letters and process compensation decisions within the pay bands and staffing plans approved by Leadership
  • Execute the onboarding and preboarding experience day to day for new hires are set up for success from offer through 90 days

Compensation, Benefits & HRIS

  • Administer the compensation program day to day, bonus calculations, pay band application, and the annual compensation review cycle
  • Administer benefits programs and day-to-day vendor coordination, including open enrollment execution and 401(k) administration and compliance

Employee Relations & Performance

  • Investigate and resolve employee relations matters at all levels, escalating complex or high-risk cases to Leadership
  • Administer the performance management framework, guiding managers through coaching, corrective action, and termination processes company-wide
  • Administer leave requests day to day (FMLA, ADA, state-specific leave laws) and accommodation requests, following the policies set

Compliance & Risk

  • Ensure HR policies, employee handbooks, and practices remain current with federal and state employment law across all states in which Mammoth operates, flagging needed updates to Leadership team
  • Prepare EEO reporting, audits, and other compliance filings for the review and submission
  • Partner with Accounting on payroll-adjacent matters (new hire setup, terminations, status changes), while payroll processing itself remains owned by Accounting
  • Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact for employment-related questions, escalating legal and regulatory matters appropriately

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 4+ years of progressive HR experience with hands-on ownership of recruiting, employee relations, and compliance
  • Demonstrated experience supporting a multi-location or field-based workforce
  • Strong working knowledge of federal and multistate employment law, including FMLA, ADA, and workers' compensation processes
  • Comfortable executing HR strategy and programs set by others, with sound independent judgment on day-to-day implementation
  • Experience administering compensation and benefits programs, including bonus calculations and 401(k) plan administration
  • Excellent judgment handling confidential, sensitive matters
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms (Paycom experience strongly preferred)

PREFERRED

  • SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR certification
  • Experience in construction, field services, or another industry with distributed, hourly-heavy field operations
