Job Description:
Joining the Russell Investments Human Resources team means joining a collaborative, fast-paced, and high-performing team focused on enabling business performance, organizational effectiveness, and a strong associate experience. We are seeking a motivated, intellectually curious, and solutions-oriented Human Resources Business Partner to support our Go-to-Market (GTM) businesses and serve as an on-the-ground HR presence for the Milwaukee office, while also contributing to broader HRBP team initiatives, special projects, and team coverage.
This role is expected to be approximately 50% focused on HRBP support for the GTM businesses and approximately 50% leveraged across the broader HRBP team. Based in Milwaukee, this person will partner with managers and associates across the employee lifecycle, including employee relations, performance management, talent processes, onboarding/offboarding, policy interpretation, employee engagement, and practical day-to-day HR guidance.
The ideal candidate is early in their HRBP career, brings 2-4 years of HR experience, and is eager to grow within a global financial services organization. They will bring strong judgment, discretion, a positive and proactive attitude, high follow-through, and a willingness to learn. The right person will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, asking thoughtful questions, solving problems for both the business and HR team, and building the confidence and judgment needed to become a strong HR Business Partner.
HRBP Support for GTM Businesses and Milwaukee Office
In this capacity, the HRBP will support managers and associates across GTM client groups helping ensure strong execution of core people processes and providing practical, day-to-day HR guidance. Key responsibilities include:
  • Build trusted relationships with managers and associates across Go-to-Market teams
  • Provide on-the-ground HR support for the Milwaukee office, serving as a visible and accessible HR presence for local associates and managers and escalating matters as appropriate
  • Support core HR processes across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, performance management, talent reviews, engagement, and internal movement
  • Coach managers on performance conversations, conflict resolution, associate engagement, team effectiveness, and employee lifecycle matters
  • Partner with Senior HRBPs on more complex employee relations, performance, organizational, and talent matters
  • Conduct exit interviews and help identify themes or trends that may inform retention, engagement, and manager effectiveness
  • Develop an understanding of GTM business priorities, team dynamics, talent needs, and commercial objectives

HRBP Team Initiatives, Special Projects & Scalable Support
In this capacity, the HRBP will be leveraged across the broader HR Business Partner team to support HR initiatives, special projects, cross-business priorities, and provide BP coverage when needed. Key responsibilities include:
  • Support HRBP team initiatives and special projects that improve the effectiveness, consistency, and scalability of HR support
  • Partner with HRBPs to identify opportunities to improve HR processes, reporting, and ways of working
  • Provide project coordination and execution support for HR initiatives
  • Provide coverage and overflow support to HRBPs as needed, including support for employee lifecycle activity, manager questions and follow-up actions
  • Support initiatives related to associate engagement, retention, manager capability, and organizational effectiveness
  • Continue developing knowledge of employment law, regulatory expectations, and HR compliance requirements

Qualifications
  • 2-4 years of progressive Human Resources experience; exposure to HR business partnering, HR generalist work, employee relations and HR operations
  • Practical understanding of HR practices, employee relations, performance management, recruiting, compensation, employee lifecycle processes, and HR operations
  • Strong judgment, discretion, and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Positive, proactive, team-oriented attitude with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges
  • Solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to stay calm, organized, and pragmatic in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong relationship-building skills and ability to communicate effectively with managers, associates, and HR colleagues
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, shift between business support and project work, and follow through on commitments
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver accurate, timely work
  • Experience in financial services, asset management, investment management, banking, fintech, or a similarly fast-paced professional services environment preferred
  • Comfort working with data, reports, and HR systems; Workday experience preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, Organizational Development, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience
