Job description

Armed Healthcare Protection Officer

Location: This position requires you to work at 2 locations: Oakland + Richmond

Pay progression:the full rate for this position is $40/hr

  • Starting wage: $36/hr
  • 4 months after hire: $38/hr
  • 3 months after & onward: $40/hr

Job Description:

As part of the Regional Security Services team, the Healthcare Protection Officer (HPO) is responsible for the physical and personal security for members, staff, and visitors within the health care client facilities. This includes responding to emergency situations, preserving order, and enforcing regulations related to personnel, visitors, and premises. Protects staff and property from theft or damage, or persons from hazards and interference, including the potential for violence in the workplace. The HPO will partner with security and clinical leaders to establish a unified care team to identify and mitigate security and workplace violence risks.

Travel required:Travel on an occasional basis with some overnight stays. Must have reliable transportation and be available for unplanned travel.

Responsibilities:

Facility Safety & Incident Response

  • Respond to crimes in progress and take appropriate action
  • Make private person arrests when necessary and within policy
  • Lead Code Gray response teams
  • Lead de-escalation efforts
  • Provide a professional security presence
  • Act as a safety ambassador for the facility
  • Provide campus safety recommendations
  • Liaison with administrative and clinical leadership
  • Establish and maintain a good working relationship with local law enforcement

Prevention of Workplace Violence (PWV)

  • Serve as the facility subject matter expert on the Prevention of Workplace Violence
  • Respond to and investigate incidents of workplace violence
  • Provide PWV training to all staff
  • Stay current on training and trends in the PWV field

Threat Management

  • Lead and support threat management investigations
  • Mitigate potential threats through collaboration with key stakeholders and the Threat Management Team

Training

  • Provide Prevention of Workplace Violence training to staff
  • Train and evaluate new officers
