Work involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities.Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek, but may be required to work evening, weekend and holiday hours on a 24-hour on-call basis. Work is performed at construction sites where incumbents may encounter dust, mud, noise, heights, and inclement weather conditions. Work requires minimal physical exertion.**Minimum Qualifications:** ***On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:*****Education:** Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.**AND****Experience:** Have three years of experience in mechanical installation, maintenance or inspection.**OR****Equivalency Notes:** Have an equivalent combination of education and experience.**Licenses, Registrations, and Certificates:** Applicants must hold a master plumber license issued by the State Board of Plumbing, the Baltimore County Plumbing Board, or the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission.Have a valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license or an equivalent driver's license and eligible to obtain a Baltimore City driver’s permit. **PROVISIONAL DRIVER’S LICENSE OR LEARNER PERMITS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.****NOTE:** **YOU MUST UPLOAD A COPY OF YOUR VALID DRIVER’S LICENSE WITH APPLICATION AT TIME OF APPLYING.****\*\*APPLICATION DEADLINE:** *Please submit your application no later than* *12:00 AM* *on the closing date to be eligible for consideration. \*\****Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:*** Knowledge of the materials, methods and techniques of construction and mechanical installation work.* Knowledge of mechanical codes and standards.* Knowledge of safety practices and procedures including OSHA rules and regulations.* Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.* Mathematic ability.* Ability to communicate and deal effectively with others.* Ability to maintain records and reports.**Additional Information****Background Check** Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed.**Probation**All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory six-month probation.**Eligibility**Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months.
