Job description

Job Summary
The Affordable Housing Compliance Supervisor oversees and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local affordable housing programs across a designated property portfolio. This role provides leadership to on site team, serves as a subject-matter expert on regulatory requirements, and works closely with property management, and regulatory agencies to maintain program adherence and minimize compliance risk.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance Oversight
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with affordable housing programs, including LIHTC, HUD, HOME, Section 8, and other state or local programs
  • Monitor household eligibility, income calculations, rent limits, and unit designations
  • Approve and complete IC's, AR's and interims, review documentation for accuracy and completeness
  • Prepare for audits and prepare properties for HUD MOR external agency reviews and inspections.

Supervision & Training
  • Supervise, mentor, and support recertification specialists.
  • Provide guidance on compliance regulations, updates, and best practices
  • Develop and implement standardized compliance procedures and workflows
  • Collaborate with Nan Mckay, Property Managers and Legal Services coordinator to ensure that certifications are completed timely, to avoid loss of subsidy.

Regulatory & Reporting
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal staff regarding compliance matters for the designated portfolio
  • Assist with required reporting, including annual owner certifications and agency submissions
  • Track regulatory changes and ensure timely implementation across the portfolio

Collaboration & Problem Solving
  • Partner with property management team to resolve compliance issues
  • Identify and mitigate compliance risks and corrective action plans

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in affordable housing, property management, or a related field
  • Minimum of H.S. Diploma or GED is required
  • Minimum 3-5 years of affordable housing compliance experience
  • In-depth knowledge of LIHTC and HUD regulations and income calculation methodologies
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred
  • Industry certifications such as HCCP, COS, or TCS
  • Experience with compliance software like Yardi
  • Familiarity with housing agency requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interpret complex regulations and explain them clearly
  • Effective time management and ability to manage multiple priorities
