Location: The Hotel at the University of Maryland
Department: Housekeeping
Reports To: Executive Housekeeper
Schedule: Full-Time; schedule includes AM/PM shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed
Rate of Pay: $20 per hour
Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Housekeeping Supervisor to join our team at The Hotel at the University of Maryland. Our Housekeeping Supervisor plays a crucial role in assisting the Executive Housekeeper with overseeing the daily operations of both the housekeeping and laundry departments. This position ensures that our guests experience a clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment throughout their stay. The supervisor is responsible for coordinating and monitoring housekeeping staff's work, addressing any issues that arise, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and service. Additionally, the Housekeeping Supervisor helps manage inventory, trains new employees, and implements procedures to enhance efficiency and guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of housekeeping staff, including room attendants and housepersons
  • Inspect guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces to ensure cleanliness and brand standards are consistently met.
  • Assign daily tasks and adjust staffing levels based on occupancy and operational needs.
  • Train, coach, and motivate team members to maintain high performance and service standards
  • Assist with scheduling, payroll review, and timekeeping
  • Address guest requests and resolve concerns promptly and professionally
  • Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, and OSHA standards
  • Maintain inventory of housekeeping supplies and coordinate with management on ordering needs
