POSITION: HOUSEKEEPING MANAGER

DEPARTMENT: HOUSEKEEPING

REPORTS TO: ROOMS DIVISION MANAGER

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 2-4 years of progressive housekeeping leadership experience in a hotel or resort environment.

• Previous supervisory or management experience required.

• Strong knowledge of housekeeping operations, room inspection standards, and productivity management.

• Advanced computer skills required, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, scheduling

systems, payroll/timekeeping systems, and hotel property management systems.

• Experience with labor forecasting, scheduling, and workforce management preferred.

• Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

• Ability to lead a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.

SUMMARY:

The Housekeeping Manager supports the Rooms Division Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Housekeeping & Laundry Department. This position is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, service, productivity, and guest satisfaction while providing leadership and direction to Supervisors, Room Attendants, Housepersons, and Public Area Attendants. The Housekeeping Manager plays a key role in labor management, scheduling, training, room inspections, and operational reporting, while serving as a hands-on leader focused on daily execution and team performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Oversee the daily operations of the Housekeeping and Laundry Departments to ensure cleanliness, quality, productivity, and service standards are consistently achieved.

· Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms, public areas, laundry facilities, back-of-house areas, and employee spaces to ensure compliance with hotel standards.

· Ensure hotel linen, terry, uniforms, guest laundry, and dry-cleaning services are processed efficiently and meet established quality expectations.

· Coordinate room readiness and communicate effectively with Front Office, Engineering, and other hotel departments to support operational success.

· Respond promptly to guest requests and service concerns, implementing appropriate service recovery measures when necessary.

· Lead, coach, and develop Housekeeping Supervisors and hourly team members to promote accountability, engagement, and exceptional performance.

· Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance management of housekeeping and laundry associates.

· Conduct daily lineups and departmental meetings to communicate priorities, goals, and operational updates.

· Prepare and manage staffing schedules based on occupancy forecasts, business levels, and operational needs.

· Monitor labor costs, productivity standards, overtime, and staffing levels to achieve departmental labor goals while maintaining service excellence.

· Utilize workforce management, payroll, and scheduling systems to manage attendance, staffing, and payroll-related functions.

· Maintain accurate housekeeping and laundry records, reports, inventories, and operational documentation.

· Utilize property management systems, housekeeping software, and Microsoft Office applications to analyze performance, track productivity, and identify opportunities for operational improvement.

· Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and administration of the Housekeeping and Laundry operating budgets.

· Maintain and regularly update the department's digital business plan, ensuring departmental goals, action plans, project timelines, and key performance indicators remain current and aligned with hotel objectives.

· Monitor and control inventory levels for linen, guest supplies, cleaning chemicals, laundry supplies, and operational equipment.

· Assume operational leadership of the department in the absence of the Rooms Division Manager as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and color vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
