Housekeeping Helper information

What is a housekeeping helper?

Housekeeping helpers are workers who assist with cleaning and maintaining residential or commercial spaces. Their duties typically include tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, mopping floors, changing linens, and replenishing supplies. Housekeeping helpers often work under the supervision of a head housekeeper or facility manager to ensure that all areas are kept tidy and hygienic. They play an important role in maintaining a clean and comfortable environment for occupants and visitors.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a housekeeping helper?

To thrive as a Housekeeping Helper, you need basic cleaning skills, attention to detail, and a high school diploma or equivalent is often preferred. Job description

Hotel Housekeeper – Hampton Inn by Hilton Wabash

At Hampton Inn by Hilton Wabash, we are looking for a dependable, hardworking, and detail-oriented Housekeeper to join our team.

Housekeeping is at the heart of the hotel experience. Our Housekeepers help create the clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment our guests expect when they stay with us. If you take pride in your work, enjoy staying active, and like seeing the results of a job well done, this could be a great fit for you.

We also believe in being upfront about the position: hotel housekeeping is physically demanding and fast-paced. It requires stamina, efficiency, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic. While it isn't always an easy job, it is an important and rewarding role, and you'll be part of a team that works together to get the job done.

What You'll Do
  • Clean and prepare guest rooms according to Hampton by Hilton cleanliness standards
  • Complete approximately 12–15 guest rooms per shift, depending on occupancy and room assignments
  • Strip and make beds and replace used linens and towels
  • Thoroughly clean and sanitize bathrooms
  • Dust and clean furniture, fixtures, mirrors, and other surfaces
  • Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors
  • Remove trash and properly dispose of waste
  • Restock toiletries, towels, and guest room supplies
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked housekeeping cart
  • Check lights, appliances, fixtures, and other room equipment for proper operation
  • Report maintenance concerns, damages, safety hazards, and lost-and-found items
  • Clean hallways, public areas, restrooms, and other hotel areas as assigned
  • Respond professionally and courteously to guest requests
  • Protect guest privacy and maintain the security of guest rooms
  • Assist other members of the Housekeeping Team when needed
  • Follow hotel safety, sanitation, security, and cleaning procedures
What to Expect

This is an active position, and you will be moving throughout most of your shift. Housekeepers regularly:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods
  • Bend, reach, kneel, and stretch repeatedly
  • Lift and carry at least 25 pounds
  • Push and pull a stocked housekeeping cart
  • Make multiple beds throughout the day
  • Perform repetitive cleaning tasks
  • Work independently while maintaining an efficient pace

Hotel occupancy changes from day to day, so some shifts will be busier than others. Teamwork is especially important on our busiest days, and everyone plays a part in making sure our rooms are ready to welcome arriving guests.

Who We're Looking For

Previous hotel housekeeping experience is helpful, but it is not required. We provide training!

More importantly, we're looking for someone who brings a great work ethic and positive attitude to the team. An ideal candidate:

  • Is dependable and ready to work
  • Takes pride in cleanliness and attention to detail
  • Can manage their time and stay productive
  • Works well independently and as part of a team
  • Is willing to learn and accept feedback
  • Takes responsibility for the quality of their work
  • Treats guests and coworkers with kindness and respect
  • Maintains a professional and positive attitude
  • Understands that weekends and busy travel periods are an important part of hotel operations

We can teach you Hampton's cleaning standards and procedures. We're looking for someone who brings the dependability, effort, and pride in their work.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Benefits & Perks
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Paid training
  • Paid time off for eligible Team Members
  • Hilton Team Member hotel discounts
  • Go Hilton travel benefits for eligible Team Members
  • Tips
  • Training and professional development
  • Opportunities for advancement
  • Supportive, team-oriented work environment
