About the role
Reports to: Assistant General Manager and General Manager.
Supervises: Assigned Department Lead, Assistant BOH Manager, and BOH Staff.
Compensation: $23-$33 an hour, non-exempt position. Specific starting wages are dependent on location and experience. (Level 3 or 4)
As a part of the management team, the BOH (Shipping/Receiving and Fulfillment) Manager oversees the team, participates in the daily operations of the Shipping/Receiving, Fulfillment and Merch department, and may also have one additional area of responsibility. They are responsible for the efficient and accurate movement of product in and out of the store, as well as maintaining inventory accuracy in the store via the cycle count program. A BOH Manager is a leader and must have the ability to make informed decisions, problem solve and effectively manage their department. They ensure that all job functions are executed consistently, efficiently and according to policy, with the customer and staff experience in mind, including but not limited to reviews, hiring, scheduling, payroll and terminations.The Sr. BOH Manager reports to the store General Manager and Assistant General Manager, and works closely with the Sports Basement Buying Team, Inventory Operations Manager, Accounting department, store staff, vendors, and drivers. This is a full-time, position, but may require working nights and weekends to meet critical deadlines. Depending on the needs of the store, other duties may be assigned from time to time.

General Duties
  • Management and execution of all inbound operations: Loading/unloading trucks, organizing deliveries, processing orders into inventory using SAP.
  • Management and execution of all outbound operations: Customer order fulfillment from pick to ship, product transfers to other stores, vendor returns.
  • Management and execution of all cycle count operations.
  • Schedules staff according to daily, weekly forecasting and special events.
  • Analyze reports to identify areas of improvements and success of the department.
  • Train all department staff and give formal feedback through the review process.
  • Ensure the overall cleanliness and organization of the department.
  • Communicates and maintains positive, constructive relationships with all store and company co-workers.

Receiving Role
  • Effectively implement and set expectations for SB's Security Policy.
  • Set and uphold department goals and expectations, maintain cleanliness, organization, a well supplied and accessible department.
  • Ensure product is tagged efficiently and repackaged in a manner that aids merchandising
  • Use SAP, Shopify, AP, vendor contacts and other resources to problem solve.
  • RTV's, re-tagging, and shipping are executed within 24 hours of notice
  • Proactively communicate issues to Accounting, Buying, and other Receiving teams
  • Respond to requests and inquiries within 24 hours.
  • Work with the management, Merch team, and marketing teams to prioritize and facilitate product delivery, cycle count prep, fulfillment, and other inventory related projects.
  • Ensure Receiving are cross trained using SBU to handle multiple areas of receiving (dock, transfers, nutrition, receiving, etc.).
  • Partner with Assistant Managers to help them reach their long-term departmental goals.
  • Work closely with all department leads and managers to ensure the product is getting out in a timely manner.

Fulfillment Role
  • Ensure staff utilize a variety of resources (SBU Training, Google, SAP, etc.) and have the knowledge to navigate the sales floor to locate items.
  • Ensure staff accurately pick items and complete orders in order of priority.
  • Verify staff's understanding of quality control, presentation when packing, and timing of truck arrivals to ensure all orders are shipped within 24 hours.
  • Ensure staff follow up on all open orders within 24 hours.
  • Ensure staff can troubleshoot and make corrections both in Shopify and Sales Saver including tagging/emailing other stores as needed.
  • Work closely with all department leads and managers to ensure the product can be found in a timely manner.

Accuracy and Productivity
  • Ensure the IOD indicates less than 1% of units are handled with errors, shows a productivity measure that is similar to comparable stores, states days to floor are less than 0.8.
  • Complete Cycle Counts and fulfillment orders accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Consistently follow company tagging guidelines.
  • Ensure transfer recaps show all transfers are pulled/posted and received.
  • Actively seek to improve the efficiency of the department.
  • Effectively communicate and implement changes in receiving processes.
  • Ensure receiving can run effectively and efficiently in your absence.
  • Regularly check for un-posted and un-received transfers as well as any outstanding STO's.

Staff Experience & Development
  • Maintain open communication; staff across all levels find you approachable and are comfortable coming to you with questions, concerns or issues.
  • Actively work to support diversity and inclusion in your store.
  • Proactively manage assigned department staff by conducting training, writing achievable review goals, and assisting staff in their development.
  • Utilizes all training resources to keep up to date with all company training for self and assigned department staff.

Business Experience
  • Stay up-to-date with all company information and quickly implement all initiatives
  • Understand Payroll pars and align with the Store's Payroll goals.
  • Identify assigned department staffing needs, reviews applications, interviews and hires effectively (with GM approval), keeping diversity and inclusion efforts top priority.
  • Experience with all HR, scheduling tools, rentals systems and business tools.
  • Participate in marketing conversations and champion impactful events for the store.
  • Responsible for working with the management team to complete daily operations.

Qualifications
  • Previous retail or industry experience. Recent experience as an asst. Manager, leader or shift supervisor (10+ staff members) or a desire to grow into a leadership role.

  • Self-starter with initiative, strong work ethic, and a positive attitude.
  • Unquestionable punctuality and trustworthiness.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proactive with the ability to react to changing daily and weekly variables.

  • You must have the physical, visual and auditory ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations. Position requires standing up to 8 hours per shift, bending, leaning and kneeling on a regular basis during a shift. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in order to perform essential functions.
  • The ability to use equipment including but not limited to a pallet jack, walkie pallet stacker, electric or gas forklift
  • Has open availability throughout the holiday season.

  • SAP/Shopify experience is a plus.
