Our global solutions team is seeking a Senior Video Streaming Engineer (Android) to join our team to support our media & entertainment client build and deliver world-class streaming and digital media experiences to millions of users globally. This is an exciting opportunity to help us shape the future of mobile video technology while working on large-scale applications, next-generation playback experiences, and high-impact platform initiatives. Our team will be building a state-of-the-art Android video streaming player and we're looking for team players that have experience building video players with Android. Your experience will support the development of the player and you'll have an understanding of the video streaming workflows and nuances with Android to get the highest performing product available. You'll have a fundamental understanding of ABR, DRM, latency and buffering, hardware, codecs, DASH / HLS, and player telemetry. Our ideal person will have experience working with Java, Kotlin, Media3 ExoPlayer and know how to driver player performance.

Responsibilities:



  • Design, develop, and maintain advanced Android applications and reusable SDK components using Kotlin and Java

  • Build high-performance mobile experiences focused on video playback, streaming reliability, and application scalability

  • Develop and enhance features related to adaptive streaming, offline playback, DRM, and media delivery optimization

  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, product, and QA teams to deliver scalable platform solutions

  • Participate in architecture and technical design discussions for mobile platform modernization initiatives

  • Optimize application performance including startup time, memory management, rendering, and playback quality

  • Implement and maintain robust APIs, libraries, and shared mobile frameworks

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues across a wide range of Android devices and OS versions

  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, release automation, and software delivery best practices

  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following engineering standards and best practices

  • Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and collaborative problem solving

  • Stay current with emerging Android technologies, frameworks, and industry trends


Requirements



  • 5+ years of professional Android development experience

  • Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Java

  • Experience building and supporting enterprise-scale Android applications

  • Hands-on experience with Media3 and/or ExoPlayer

  • Strong understanding of streaming technologies including DASH and HLS

  • Experience implementing DRM solutions such as Widevine

  • Deep understanding of Android SDKs, application lifecycle management, and performance optimization

  • Experience building reusable mobile platform components or SDKs

  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs, networking, and backend integrations

  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical skills

  • Experience working in Agile development environments

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience with video analytics and playback instrumentation

  • Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD tools

  • Experience supporting high-traffic consumer-facing applications

  • Knowledge of cloud-based services and scalable backend systems

Additional Details
The base range for this contract position is $70-$80 per hour, depending on experience. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered.
