Title: Grounds Maintenance Supervisor
Reports to: General Manager / Operations Manager
Department: Maintenance
Summary:
The Sports Field Grounds Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, preparation, and overall condition of athletic fields and surrounding grounds. This role supervises grounds staff, ensures fields meet safety and quality standards, and coordinates daily operations to support practices, games, and special events. The supervisor plays a key role in maintaining high-quality playing surfaces and a positive experience for athletes and guests.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of grounds maintenance staff
  • Plan and oversee maintenance of athletic fields, including mowing, aeration, fertilization, irrigation, and turf repair
  • Ensure proper field preparation, including lining and setup for games, practices, and events
  • Inspect fields and facilities regularly to ensure safety, playability, and appearance standards
  • Develop and manage maintenance schedules and seasonal field care plans
  • Monitor weather conditions and determine field closures or modifications as needed
  • Train staff on proper equipment use, safety procedures, and maintenance techniques
  • Oversee operation, maintenance, and repair of groundskeeping equipment and irrigation systems
  • Maintain inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment; coordinate purchasing as needed
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Respond to emergencies, urgent repairs, or weather-related issues as needed
  • Follow all safety procedures and organizational guidelines
  • All other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Be self-motivated with the ability to perform with the highest professional and ethical standards.
  • Possess strong leadership and managerial skills which include the ability to coach, develop and clearly communicate expectations

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to operate maintenance equipment (mowers, line stripers, utility vehicles’, etc.)
  • Ability to work in an environment with exposure to loud equipment
  • Physical ability to perform outdoor labor in various weather conditions
  • Must be able to work a variety of day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
  • Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours per day with frequent bending, twisting and squatting movements and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid drivers license

Hourly Rate of Pay: $25.00

Education and Experience
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Associate or bachelors degree in turf management, horticulture, sports management or related field
Experience: Minimum three (3) years’ experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or athletic field maintenance
Prior management or supervisory experience preferred.
