Job description

Mow Team Driver

Position Summary

The Mow Team Driver is responsible for working on a landscape maintenance/mowing crew while safely transporting personnel, equipment, and materials to and from job sites. The Team Driver works with one (1) to three (3) team members and is responsible for the efficient completion of mowing and maintenance services according to company quality standards.

The Team Driver is highly skilled in operating commercial mowing equipment and possesses a strong understanding of turf maintenance best practices including mowing, trimming, edging, bed maintenance, debris removal, and basic horticultural care. This position is responsible for maintaining production efficiency, quality control, equipment care, and ensuring a safe and professional work environment. The Team Driver works closely with management and clients and reports directly to the Maintenance Production Manager.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Crew Management

  • Plan and organize daily routes and job assignments to maximize efficiency and productivity.
  • Ensure all work is completed according to company quality standards and client expectations.
  • Adhere to training and expectations on proper equipment operation, safety procedures, and maintenance best practices.
  • Handle onsite personnel issues and communicate concerns to management.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment.

Driving & Transportation

  • Safely operate company trucks and truck/trailer combinations.
  • Maintain a clean driving record and comply with all traffic laws and company safety policies.
  • Perform daily vehicle and trailer inspections.
  • Ensure equipment and materials are properly loaded, secured, and transported.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of vehicles and trailers.

Landscape Maintenance Operations

  • Operate commercial landscape maintenance equipment including:
    • Zero-turn mowers
    • Walk-behind mowers
    • String trimmers
    • Edgers
    • Backpack and handheld blowers
    • Hedge trimmers
  • Other commercial landscape equipment as assigned
  • Perform mowing, trimming, edging, blowing, bed maintenance, pruning, and seasonal landscape services.
  • Monitor turf health and identify common landscape issues requiring management attention.
  • Perform seasonal cleanups and enhancement work as needed.
  • Assist with irrigation inspections and report deficiencies to management.

Administration & Quality Control

  • Maintain production efficiency and quality control standards.
  • Ensure all jobs are completed within established budgets and production goals.
  • Complete required paperwork, inspections, and reporting accurately and on time.
  • Maintain assigned equipment and notify management of repair needs.

Client Relations

  • Interact professionally with clients on a routine basis.
  • Answer client questions and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate client concerns, opportunities, and recommendations to management.

Winter Operations

  • Active involvement in snow removal operations during winter months.
  • Safely operate snow removal equipment as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum two (2) years of commercial landscape maintenance experience.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience operating commercial mowing equipment.
  • Experience driving trucks and trailer combinations.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to read and write effectively.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead a small crew.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and equipment troubleshooting skills.

Preferred

  • Experience leading landscape maintenance crews.
  • Experience with route planning and production management.
  • Knowledge of turf care and horticultural best practices.
  • Experience operating skid steers, stand-on equipment, and compact utility equipment.
  • Ohio pesticide applicator license or willingness to obtain.

Job Site Conditions

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather (heat, cold, rain, and snow), and moving mechanical equipment.

Work is performed on both residential and commercial properties. Employees may occasionally be exposed to pets and other site-specific conditions.
