Job Overview The Rides Supervisor will assist in the supervision of the rides staff working throughout the amusement park. This position directly supports the Rides Manager with the efficient operation of the department, ensuring a positive guest experience. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting with the management of the department, supervising, monitoring, and attending to park rides, including boarding, securing passengers, operating rides, and ensuring passengers exit safely. The Rides Supervisor will also conduct daily audits to ensure that the park's safety and operating policies are being properly followed. Roles & Responsibilities Supervise the daily operations of the Rides team and any other assigned departments. Lead by example, attitude, and as a representation of Adventureland core values. Act as an approachable mentor and coach to all assigned hosts. Become knowledgeable of performing the essential duties of all rides positions and backfill these positions when needed. Participate in all aspects of supervision of assigned hosts, including hiring, orientation, training, performance coaching, and discipline. Ensure that all required meal and other breaks are given in accordance with Iowa law. Assist with team scheduling and timekeeping activities. Maintain a vast knowledge of a group of rides in a designated zone of the park and be able to step in at an attraction when necessary. Ensure that attractions open and close at the proper times established by the operational needs of the day. Provide direct support to other rides hosts by making rounds throughout the park to check on their needs. Manage guest feedback and escalates complaints or issues to the proper authorities, when appropriate. Provide coverage so that hosts may take bathroom breaks. Enforce park policies, ride restrictions, and ride recommendations. Ensure safe operation of the ride by always adhering to standard operating procedures and established training. Maintain a sense of calmness and professionalism during tense, escalated, or emergency situations. Report ride‐related issues and failures to management promptly. Maintain constant vigilance to proactively identify potential hazards and inform park leadership of any concerns. Promptly notify the security team or the park operator of host and guest injuries or emergencies. All other duties assigned by leadership. Education & Experience There is no minimum education requirement. One plus year of previous supervisory experience is desired. One season of work experience in the Rides Department is required. Previous ride operation experience from other amusement or theme park employers will also be considered. All rides hosts must complete the International Ride Operator Certification (iROC) course as part of training; successful course completion is required for this position. There is no cost to the host for the course. Languages Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English. Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus. Requirements Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with Iowa Child Labor Laws. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Ability to comply with all uniform policies. Must possess a safety‐oriented mindset and understand the importance of complying with all Federal, State, and local regulations regarding ride operation. Must demonstrate a willingness to learn and ability to follow instructions. Must be guest‐focused and also work well with other hosts and supervisors. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, stoop, twist, kneel, bend, or squat for long periods. Ability to reach above shoulders throughout the workday. Ability to remain on feet for the majority of the workday. Ability to climb or descend stairs for some coasters, rides, and attractions. Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 30 pounds or more. Ability to see details of objects that are more than a few feet away. Working Conditions Frequent interaction with motorized and chain‐driven rides and attractions. Frequent exposure to variable outside temperatures, including high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain, snow, ice, and other weather conditions. Frequent exposure to constant repetitive motion, high noise levels, flashing lights, vibrations, and heavily populated environments. Benefits Flexible schedule.
