We are thrilled to invite a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our client's dynamic finance team. In this pivotal role, you won't just process numbers; you'll be instrumental in managing and optimizing the company's property and gross receipts tax obligations, directly influencing its financial stability and regulatory standing. You will be at the forefront of preparing essential tax documentation, ensuring timely payments, and contributing to strategic tax initiatives that have a tangible impact on the organization's success. Your work will involve deep dives into financial data, collaborative efforts with various stakeholders, and the exciting opportunity to shape tax strategies within a complex regulatory environment.
What You'll Do
  • Prepare property and gross receipts tax payments for various state and local municipalities.
  • Develop and maintain property tax and/or gross receipts tax accruals, journal entries, and supporting work papers.
  • Prepare comprehensive tax returns and their corresponding supporting documentation.
  • Initiate property tax grievances and actively participate in and support efforts to settle or litigate these grievances.
  • Support the preparation of critical tax schedules for regulatory filings.
  • Contribute to the company's legislative and litigation matters related to taxation.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required to support the tax department.
  • Maintain positive corporate relations and respond to tax inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders.

Must-Have Qualifications
  • Five to eight years of accounting and/or general tax compliance related experience.
  • Strong technical background in GAAP Accounting, particularly for property and gross receipts taxes.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Expertise in analyzing and interpreting accounting system data in Excel for tax and financial reporting.
  • Proven ability to efficiently cleanse, join, and parse data in Excel.
  • Excellent project management skills, including flexibility, the ability to multi-task, and execute timely deliverables under aggressive timelines across multiple tax jurisdictions.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise discretion, and apply sound judgment while delivering quality customer service.
  • Excellent presentation, facilitation, and oral and written communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor, confidence in interacting with all levels of management and company personnel, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or another business discipline.
  • Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable investigating variances and resolving discrepancies.
  • Organized and capable of managing multiple deadlines and tax jurisdictions simultaneously.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications
  • Property and gross receipts tax experience.
  • Familiarity with specific advanced functionalities within ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with specialized property tax accounting software.
  • Familiarity with government tax portals or online tax filing systems.
  • Proficiency with preparing corporate tax returns and gross receipts tax returns.
  • Master's Degree or CPA license.
