Pay Rate: Starting at $18.00 per hour (based on experience)
Job Type: Temp-to-Hire

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Slitter Operator to join our production team. This is not an entry-level role—candidates must have prior hands-on experience operating slitting equipment in a steel environment. This position plays a key role in maintaining production quality, efficiency, and safety, and requires someone who can take ownership of their shift and lead by example.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate, and monitor slitting equipment with minimal supervision

  • Serve as Team Leader for shift operations, ensuring productivity and safety standards are met

  • Review and interpret work orders to ensure all specifications and requirements are followed

  • Verify materials, measurements, and customer specifications before and during production

  • Identify and address steel defects to maintain high-quality output

  • Monitor machine performance and material flow throughout the slitting process

  • Take and upload job-related photos and maintain accurate production records

  • Perform operational audits and ensure compliance with company procedures

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment

  • Ensure measurement tools are verified daily and used accurately

  • Oversee proper disposal of scrap and waste materials

  • Ensure all work instructions are completed, signed off, and up to date

Requirements:

  • Proven experience operating slitting machines in a steel or metals environment

  • Strong understanding of steel properties and ability to identify material defects

  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform decimal-to-inch conversions accurately

  • Experience working with heavy machinery in a production setting

  • Strong computer skills for data entry, reporting, and system updates

  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work

  • Strong communication skills and ability to lead and support a team

  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment

What We Offer:

  • Starting pay at $18.00/hour, with potential for higher pay based on experience

  • Opportunity for permanent hire based on performance and attendance

  • Consistent full-time first shift schedule

  • Potential for overtime and long-term growth

  • Team-oriented environment focused on safety, quality, and performance

Apply Today!
If you are an experienced Slitter Operator looking for a stable opportunity where your skills and leadership are valued, we encourage you to apply. This role is ideal for candidates who take pride in their work, prioritize safety, and can operate with minimal supervision.
