Director, Risk Management - Nemours Children's Health, Orlando

The Director, Risk Management serves as a strategic advisor and subject matter expert regarding healthcare risk management practices and regulatory compliance. This role is responsible for analyzing organizational risk trends, conducting investigations, developing mitigation strategies, educating staff, and supporting a culture of safety and accountability.

The successful candidate will collaborate with leaders across the organization to proactively identify risks, improve processes, and strengthen patient, associate, and organizational protections.

Primary Functions
  • Collaborates with the Legal and Risk Management Team to organize, compile, analyze, and document data to identify opportunities for risk management intervention and educational opportunities.
  • Acts as a risk management resource, internal consultant, and educator by providing direct consultation to associates in the Florida.
  • Researches and provides education, consultation, and guidance on state, federal, and other regulatory agencies' standards as they relate to risk management. Maintains knowledge of applicable existing and developing laws and regulations.
  • Participates, facilitates or leads teams, as appropriate, to achieve performance improvement within the organization.
  • Compiles, analyzes data, and provides routine risk data to the Nemours Legal/Risk Management Department and other departments in Florida as assigned, including but not limited to incident reports, medical records, logs, databases, and error reporting systems to support risk management activities.
  • Drafts and delivers reports and presentations outlining findings, identifying and explaining potential risks, and recommends solutions.
  • Collaborates with Legal/Risk Management Department on uniform risk assessment models and methodologies.
  • Participates in system-wide risk management initiatives as assigned.
Requirements
  • Post Graduate (e.g., Ph.D., M.D., J.D.), JD and/or clinical degree required
  • More than 3 years of experience
  • Experience in Healthcare Risk Management or a related field preferred
  • Travel to Jacksonville and Pensacola as needed.
